We are seeking a highly skilled WordPress Developer for a UK-based client. This is a 100% remote role. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining custom WordPress themes and plugins, collaborating with the design team, integrating with external APIs, implementing SEO best practices, optimizing website performance, troubleshooting issues, adhering to WordPress coding standards, conducting thorough testing, and providing technical support. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience, 5+ years of experience developing custom WordPress websites, in-depth knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, and strong understanding of WordPress core architecture and best practices. Experience with page builders, the WordPress REST API, Git, website performance optimization, SEO, and website security is also required.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins, ensuring high quality, performance, and security.
Collaborate with the design team to create visually appealing, responsive, and mobile-first designs.
Integrate with external APIs and third-party services to enhance website functionality and user experience.
Implement SEO best practices to improve search engine rankings and drive organic traffic.
Optimize website performance through caching, code minification, and image optimization techniques.
Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, working closely with other team members to ensure timely resolution.
Adhere to WordPress coding standards and best practices while staying updated with the latest industry trends.
Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure optimal website performance and stability.
Provide technical support and guidance to clients and team members, as needed.
Participate in project planning and contribute to estimating timelines and resource requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience developing custom WordPress websites, themes, and plugins.
In-depth knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
Strong understanding of the WordPress core, architecture, and best practices.
Experience with popular page builders, such as Elementor, Divi, or Beaver Builder.
Familiarity with the WordPress REST API and integrating with third-party services.
Proficient with version control systems, such as Git.
Experience with website performance optimization, including caching, code minification, and image optimization.
Knowledge of SEO best practices and techniques.
Strong understanding of website security principles and best practices.
Experience with web hosting environments and server management.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
A strong portfolio showcasing custom WordPress projects.
