What we need:
We’re looking for a Writer (up to 12 month contract) to join our team and help us shape the future of storytelling in online multiplayer gaming. As a Writer, you’ll envision and bring vibrant and diverse characters to life and tell engaging and thrilling stories. You’ll drive and develop the game’s world, story and characters, working closely with the design, art, and sound teams to realize your vision. Responsibilities:
- Work with a team of other writers and narrative designers to develop and execute the game’s vision
- Write and iterate on compelling, character-building dialogue
- Contribute to the further development of existing characters and storylines
- Write descriptions of the world, factions, characters, and history to serve as a resource for the game’s overall development
- Collaborate deeply with other disciplines and serve as a resource for other team members, inspiring and providing context to the content they are creating
- Do research gathering and documentation
- Perform editing tasks as needed
- Provide feedback on works in progress across all areas of the game based on daily playtesting
- Daily hands-on engine work to bring ideas to life
Required experience:
- Strong passion for story in games is a must!
- Experience writing dialogue, characters, storylines for games
- Experience with modern game engines (Unreal, Unity, etc.)
- Strong understanding of unique issues of design and storytelling in games
- Have knowledge of today’s pop culture and entertainment landscape
- Understanding of what it takes to make representative, authentic characters
- 3+ years experience, and at least 1 shipped title in a narrative or systems design role, preferably in the multiplayer space
Relevant experience:
- Experience with scripting
- Experience directing voiceover recording
- A passion for diversity & representation in games & game development
- A self-starter who can align with the team's goals but isn't hesitant to create solutions on their own
- Comfortable with rapid iteration based off feedback
- Ability to iterate & collaborate under deadlines & production constraints
The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $54,766 and $83,200 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
