Job Description:
Boston Conservatory at Berklee invites applications for an A2 / Deck Sound Technician to support audio elements and concert logistics as needed for musical theater productions in the upcoming year. Under the direction of the Audio Supervisor this position is primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, and distribution of wired and wireless microphone. Nights and weekends required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the installation, maintenance, and distribution of wired and wireless microphones for musical theater productions, with an emphasis on body mics for performers
- Attend technical and dress rehearsals, and performances as assigned
- For the 2024-2025 season, the following are known dates that an A2 is needed. Please note, applicants do not need to be available for all productions, but should plan to be available across at least one range of dates. Dates are subject to change:
○ Jesus Christ Superstar - September 16 - 29, 2024
○ Alice By Heart - October 28 - November 10, 2024
○ Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 - March 24 - April 14, 2025
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years of experience as an A2 in a professional theater
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Must be able to work independently, take direction, move with urgency, remain diplomatic and calm in fast-paced situations
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Dropbox, and/or similar formats for record-keeping and communications is helpful
- Familiarity with Shure Wireless Workbench and Audinate’s Dante Controller software Required
- Familiarity with ClearCom FreeSpeak wireless intercom systems is helpful SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May work closely with and/or oversee student workers
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Indoor environments, some with low light: stages, backstage areas, dressing rooms, costume shop, props storage, office spaces, closets, catwalks
- Seated and standing positions
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, ETC:
- Nights and weekends required
- May be required to be able to lift and move 40 pounds, depending on assigned area/project
- May be required to be able to climb stairs, ladders, depending on assigned area/project
