Associate Director Solution Architecture

The LR division is transitioning from a localized product development approach to a more divisional approach aiming to build products with a global reach. This will enable a better leverage of the company resources and better time to market for innovations. To help with this transition we are looking for a manager solution architecture.

As the Manager of Solution Architecture, you will lead an organization of about 9 solution architects. As a Senior Member of the engineering leadership team, you will play a critical role in implementing lean development practices, standardizing new application development across our portfolio, standardizing development architecture, and driving the adoption of infrastructure as code including handsfree deployment. Additionally, you will provide the strategy and help in execution of migration of legacy applications to modern platforms, ensuring we create a flexible technology stack remains at the forefront of innovation. A key part of your role will also involve driving AI adoption into our products to enhance their capabilities and performance. You will be responsible for oversight of the architectural analysis, planning, and design of legal and regulatory research initiatives all in alignment with strategic and operational goals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of solution architects in multiple countries.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to achieve project and organizational objectives.
  • Oversea the research projects including architectural output quality and become a sparring partner for the legal and regulatory business.
  • Hire and supervise the Solution Architects.
  • Assign solution architects to projects and manage demand.
  • Take an active participation in technical debt management and lead the architecture team to do the same for their assigned projects.

Solution Design

  • Make sure the solution designs takes the end goal in mind even if it crosses multiple organizational boundaries.
  • Actively participate in the architectural fora and work with your peers to standardize architectural solutions.
  • Make sure all designs cater for non-functional requirements like security, performance and throughput of the systems.

Technology Integration

  • Integrate the latest technologies into legal research.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends to enhance research experiences.

Strategic Alignment

  • Align legal research programs and initiatives with organizational strategic goals, ensuring they support both short- and long-term objectives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the solutions addresses those needs effectively.
  • Foster a balance between good design and transitional architectures as the need arises.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7 plus years of Application Architecture experience.
  • Proven experience leading a team of architects in a diverse technological environment.
  • Extensive experience with lean development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and experience driving AI adoption in products.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills to help evolve team strategy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate organizational skills and flexibility in a busy office environment.
  • Ability to delegate and solve problems with minimal supervision and balance multiple projects while working constructively in a team environment.
