Job Overview

As a Data Scientist, you are a critical member of our Machine Learning & Decision Automation capability. Working from Fast Prototype through to the full CRISP-DM delivery approach, you independently solve large, complex business problems using Algorithms, Advanced Analysis, Machine Learning, Neural Nets and Artificial Intelligence.

As one of our leading thinkers in Data & Analytics, you will share your knowledge & expertise with others across the organization and work with some of our most senior stakeholders.

What you'll do
  • Combine your domain knowledge, experience of quantitative and statistical methods as well as expertise in Data warehousing and Data engineering to deliver compelling outputs that clients understand.
  • Be a driven learner, capable of identifying your own areas of self-development and then leveraging the team’s expertise to Build your Data Science knowledge and skills.
  • Be a patient & capable teacher & leader, able to effectively negotiate complex projects and deliver significant outcomes for senior, and potentially difficult, clients.
  • Understand and solve complex business problems – across product features, player behavior, available data sets & client personalities.
  • Use a combination of web metrics, customer data, financial reporting and third-party research data to in your work, sometimes having to build your own integrations to get access.
  • Experiment with different approaches to solving business problems, using a wide variety of techniques (everything from linear regression to deep learning) and implementation technologies from R & Python to deep learners, neural nets, and big data ML libraries such as Spark.
  • Show a high level of self-direction – you are responsible for your own backlog quality, and will need to manage your own day to day tasks with alacrity.
  • Perform deep statistical analysis to validate report findings and test hypothesis from business stakeholders.
  • Proactively structure analyses from hypothesis development to modelling to support business decisions.
  • Ensure that our stakeholders become ‘data driven’ and that Sr. business leaders are able to harness Machine Learning in their decisions and the products that they create.
  • Present work back to senior stakeholders, and translate complex problems & esoteric technical solutions for a business audience.
  • Work closely with the entire Analytics department to construct, manage and maintain a project priority list, and a repository of completed work to be shared with key partners in the organization.
  • Working with other business units and stakeholders across the organization, you will combine data sources to create an environment for testing ad-hoc, complex and ambiguous data sets to model various business outcomes.
What you'll bring
  • Personable character and a good communicator – ability to communicate complex, technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Self-motivated – you will find your own ways to solve a wide variety of problems.
  • Proficiency in manipulating structured and unstructured data in relational, non-relational, and graph databases, along with excellent data manipulation skills across various big data environments.
  • Solid experience with scripting language (Python preferred) and willingness to keep up to speed with the latest Data Science tools, technology and theory.
  • Experience on Kubeflow as production delivery platform.
  • Proven experience in training & executing machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Experience in Business Intelligence, reporting & visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Power BI, Qlick View, etc.).
  • Experience in multi-channel analytics, including web analytics.
  • Degree educated, preferably in a statistical / mathematical subject (Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or Operations Research).
  • Experience and/or interest in Casino games, Poker, Sports betting and Horse Racing an asset.
  • Proven expertise in the construction, training & maintenance of complex Machine Learning models that test business outcomes, automate decisions, and deliver actionable findings to the business.
  • A complete understanding of the ML lifecycle, with proven experience in every step from data evaluation to production deployment, maintenance & retraining.
