Join our Ocean Asset Partnerships team as a Global Senior Category Manager for Drydocking & Retrofit located in Shanghai, China. The Drydocking & Retrofit procurement team is globally responsible for procurement of end to end services related to vessel repair and retrofits during drydocking in a yard. In this role, you work together with our Fleet Management & Technology teams and shipyards all around the globe to drive shipyard performance, cost competitiveness, innovations as well as ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and other strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Develop global procurement strategies based on in-depth understanding of business requirements and shipyard markets. Leverage supplier relationship with shipyards around the world to improve yard performance, enable innovation and drive ESG efforts in the ship-repair industry.
• Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Engage with shipyards through a structured SRM process to support daily project execution and drive long-term developments.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with technical and operational teams and shipyards around the globe to define and deliver competitive repair & retrofit services to the Maersk global fleet of vessels.
• ESG Strategy: Drive to the development and implementation of Maersk Procurement’s ESG strategy with a strong focus on decarbonization.
• Negotiation and Contracting: Manage large scale CAPEX procurement projects with an annual spend of 150-250m USD to maintain and upgrade the Maersk fleet, improve fleet efficiency, and ensure compliance.
• Market Intelligence: Gather and analyze business and market intelligence to support strategic decision-making.
• Team leadership. Manage a team of 2-3 highly motivated Category Managers.
• Cost Modelling: Establish and apply cost modelling concepts, spend & demand analysis, and evaluations.
What We Are Looking For:
• Experience: We are looking for a candidate with anywhere between 5 - 10 years of experience in procurement or technical sales & marketing within an international environment within the maritime, transport or other relevant industry, for example as global procurement category manager, product manager or project manager.
• Category Management: Solid experience in category management, tender strategies, demand and forecast management, and project management.
• Supplier Relationship Management: Experience with managing complex supplier relationships through a structured SRM program.
• Stakeholder Management. Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to drive initiatives globally in a matrix organization.
• Leadership: Inspiring & motivating leader with ability to drive engaged teams focusing on continuous improvements.
• Commercial Mindset: Strong commercial mindset with a focus on achieving cost-effective solutions in collaboration with technical stakeholders.
• Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiator with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
• International Mindset and Cultural Awareness: Ability to embody the Maersk Values, integrate yourself in the Maersk culture and effectively collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in English.
• Drive and Curiosity: Action-oriented, curious, and driven to continuously develop and reach the next level.
