This role demands a proactive individual to ensure shipments are handled with care and precision.
Must have:
  • Experience in logistics, cargo operations, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of terminal processes and cargo regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory.

  • Degree in Logistics or a related field.

Cargo Care Lead – Drive Excellence Across Global Cargo Operations

Location: Algeciras, Spain

You'll play a key part in ensuring every shipment is handled with care, precision, and purpose.

What You’ll Be Doing

Customer Experience Leadership

  • Active participation during Weekly and Monthly Area Collaboration Call with TbM and Area to highlight daily operational gaps. Care Managers/Area Focals to support & drive agenda and collaboration based upon Team setup.
  • Communicate with shipping partners, carriers, and other stakeholders to coordinate and optimize cargo movements.
  • Communicate effectively with CX/Area colleagues to convey information about cargo status, loading schedules, and any challenges faced during terminal operations.
  • Provide updates to internal and external parties regarding the status of shipments – proactive communication for KC’s & PH customers.
  • Maintain SVD standards (customer promise delivery) for all PH, KC’s including Maersk Acceleration & Prism customers.
  • Own Priority Handling operational process for agreed customers & drive uniformity of cargo flow across region/cross regional (together with area focal/care manager) to ensure meeting delivery standards.
  • Drive NPS actions alongside Care Area focal & relevant parties involved to bridge gaps in process.
  • Supporting ISR improvement analysis together with Care Focal/Care Managers to ensure proactive information cascade, rationalising processes & bridging knowledge gaps within OTCS & CX teams.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure timely execution of daily operational tasks, including cargo readiness, transshipment, longstanding cargo handling, and incident response.
  • Manage exceptions like short shipments, consecutive rollings, unhappy flows, and cargo damages.
  • Ensure all operations comply with global logistics standards and local regulations.
  • Optimize cost efficiency by identifying behavioral costs and implementing proactive cost-avoidance strategies.

Terminal Collaboration & Innovation

  • Build strong day-to-day partnerships with terminal operations teams to ensure synchronized execution and reduced handover friction.
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives with Procurement, Finance, and Terminal teams.
  • Oversee special cargo handling processes like DIT, RIT, and Flex Hubs in collaboration with execution teams.
  • Support real-time problem solving for leaks, damages, transfers, or terminal incidents.

Who We’re Looking For

Required Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in logistics, cargo operations, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of terminal processes, shipping documentation, and international cargo regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex operations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Ability to work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and positive attitude.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Any other languages are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • Experience in cross-functional project management or continuous improvement initiatives.
