Summary

As Manager of Machine Learning, you'll build and scale ML systems for content and ad-related AI/ML use cases. Collaborating with data scientists and cross-functional teams, you'll focus on delivering scalable solutions for media supply chain, captioning, ad conditioning, metadata extraction, and ML pipelines. Responsibilities include leading ML solution development, ensuring best practices in ML operations (monitoring, cost optimization), mentoring team members, collaborating on quality improvements, driving scalable ML workflows, and partnering with other teams to achieve WBD's strategic objectives. You'll leverage your expertise in the ML lifecycle, models (computer vision, NLP, personalization), and distributed systems.
Must have:
  • Hands-on ML lifecycle experience
  • Strong ML model knowledge
  • Team management & operational excellence
  • Cloud platform familiarity (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • CI/CD pipeline experience
  • Excellent communication skills

Roles and Responsibilities:

As the Manager of Machine Learning, you will support, build, and scale machine learning systems that drive innovation in content and ad-related AI/ML use cases. You will work closely with a talented team of machine learning engineers and data scientists, collaborating with cross-functional teams across WBD. The focus will be on delivering scalable, resilient solutions across media supply chain, captioning services, ad conditioning, metadata extraction, and ML training and inference pipelines.

You will ensure that ML systems meet the highest standards for performance, scalability, and observability while maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement. Your role will include:

· Leading the development of machine learning solutions for media and ad tech projects.

· Contributing to building and scaling systems like large-scale content targeting, ad conditioning, metadata extraction, and captioning services.

· Ensuring best practices in ML operations including monitoring, cost optimization, and performance tuning.

· Mentoring and supporting the growth of the team’s technical skills, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

· Collaborating with teams to improve quality, stability, and scalability of AI/ML models and solutions.

· Driving efforts to enable scalable, resilient, and distributed ML workflows at WBD.

· Building partnerships with product, engineering, and research teams to deliver impactful solutions aligned with WBD’s strategic objectives.

What to Bring:

· Hands-on experience in machine learning lifecycle including data collection, training, validation, serving, and monitoring.

· Strong practical knowledge of ML models (e.g., computer vision, NLP, personalization) and distributed systems.

· Proven ability to manage teams and drive operational excellence within ML environments.

· Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

· Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions/Jenkins.

· Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a passion for solving complex problems.

Preferred:

· Experience with AI/ML use cases in content and advertising (ad targeting, metadata extraction, captioning workflows).

· Working knowledge of real-time ML systems with large-scale customer bases.

· Hands-on experience with machine learning platforms and frameworks.

· Programming experience in languages like Python, Java, or Go.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment, collaborating across multiple teams and geographies.

· Master’s in computer science or related discipline.
