Job Description

As a Senior Accountant at Wind River, you will be a key player in the finance and accounting team, contributing to the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close processes. Your responsibilities will include preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and analyzing the balance sheet and income statement. You will collaborate with various teams like Accounts Payable and Receivable to ensure accurate financial reporting under US GAAP. Additionally, you will participate in preparing statutory financial statements, improve accounting processes, and work with international teams. The role demands a proactive approach to optimize processes and improve the accuracy of financial reports. The Senior Accountant will also be expected to drive process optimization, leveraging technology and a lean mindset. The role offers the opportunity to work in a cornerstone team with exposure to senior leaders, reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting, based in Munich.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of accounting and finance experience
  • Fluent in English, excellent business English skills
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent
Good to have:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and French GAAP
  • Oracle R12 experience

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 
 
We're looking for an energetic and talented individual to join our growing team as a Senior Accountant in our EMEA team. In this role, you will help drive the “engine” of finance and accounting including the close cadence, enhancements of systems and processes, and ensure effective policy and control. The ideal candidate will be a team player and have solid operational and technical accounting background and a “can do” attitude to drive results.
 
The role will be both demanding and rewarding where you can make a difference working in a cornerstone team of our organization, with exposure to senior leaders. You will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting, based in Munich and work closely with our EMEA and global accounting teams to drive process optimization through a lean mindset and leveraging of technology and be ready to tackle projects that they didn’t wake up thinking they needed to address.
 
 
 
Responsibilities 
 
  • Contribute to the financial statement close process (monthly/quarterly/annual) enabling accurate and timely close and accounting under US GAAP, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Contribute to monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statement analyses.
  • Work closely with our teams of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Accounting for accruals, taxes, intercompany transactions, and other key expense areas.
  • Lead the preparation and review of statutory annual financial statements, footnote disclosures, and tax filings for assigned EMEA entities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with international teams to standardize and improve the International Accounting process design, including US GAAP requirements, local reporting requirements as well as SOX initiatives.
  • Identify areas of improvement in policies and procedures to provide assurance of the accuracy of financial reports. Work with others to identify, optimize and automate accounting processes driving efficient and streamlined close process.
 
Qualifications 
 
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting and finance roles, with proven ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English with exceptional proficiency in Business English, able to effectively communicate with all stakeholders. French is a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent. Certified Public Accountant qualification (or equivalent) preferred, with a solid knowledge of US GAAP. French GAAP knowledge is a plus.
  • An understanding of general ledger structure, financial statements, consolidation reporting and foreign currency translations and remeasurement.
  • Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task, and work independently, and execute objectives without supervision.
  • Modern process and tools thinking, specifically working to implement, integrate, and improve accounting and financial technology and processes. Advanced Excel and data management skills are critical.
  • Energetic, hands-on, and resourceful self-starter who can partner with all levels and functions of the company with a consultative and collaborative approach.
  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment; demonstrates a sense of urgency and should be results-driven.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse accounting team in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to connect and collaborate effectively with a diverse set of peers and stakeholders; constructive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Significant attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Oracle R12 experience preferred.
