Job Description

As a Senior Engine Engineer (Physics) at NetEase Games, you will utilize physics engine simulation techniques to build realistic physics-based animations and visual effects for gameplay. Responsibilities include optimizing physics engine source code for efficiency, customizing competition logic, generating realistic ball trajectories (including deformation effects), and developing simulations for elements like car dynamics and ball deformation from collisions. This role requires proficiency in C++, Unreal Engine, and various physics engines (PhysX, Chaos, RP3D, Box2D). Experience in rigid and soft body simulation, Ragdoll implementation, and ideally, sports game development (football preferred), is essential.
Must have:
  • 5+ years game dev experience (3+ Unreal Engine)
  • Proficient in C++ and physics engines (PhysX, Chaos, etc.)
  • Rigid/soft body simulation, Ragdoll experience
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • Experience in sports game development (football preferred)
  • Physics-Animation development experience

Job Description:

  • Use physics engine simulation techniques to create realistic physics-based animations and visual effects based on gameplay requirements.
  • Optimize the physics engine source code to improve efficiency and customize competition logic query solutions.
  • Generate high-performance and realistic ball trajectories based on the physics engine, simulating deformation effects during interactions between the ball and objects.
  • Develop realistic physics simulations based on physics engines, including effects like car dynamics and ball deformation from body collisions.

Job Requirements:

  • 5 or more years of professional experience in game development, with at least 3 years specializing in Unreal Engine is preferred.
  • Familiar with mainstream physics engines, such as PhysX, Chaos, RP3D, and Box2D, with a deep understanding of engine source code.
  • Proficient in C++ and game development, with the ability to write clean, standardized code and create comprehensive documentation.
  • Experienced in rigid body or soft body simulation, as well as the application of Ragdoll in games; candidates with experience in Physics-Animation development are preferred.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, excellent logical thinking skills and good communication abilities.
  • Quick learner with strong self-motivation, capable of independently analyzing and solving problems, and willing to share knowledge.
  • Experience in sports game development, preferably with experience in football-related projects.
