As a member of the Regulatory Technology team, you will play a key role in the delivery of technology that ensures that the Nasdaq trading engines operate in compliance with the rulebooks, as well ensuring that the surveillance programs that monitor our markets are optimally designed, including conducting data analysis of algoritms. This technical role is an essential component to high standards of regulatory integrity of the global Nasdaq markets.

As a member of the Regulatory Technology team, you will be responsible for the execution of initiatives across the Nasdaq Market Technology portfolio of regulatory technology, including rulebook compliance verification of trading engines and design of surveillance patterns.

With this position we offer:

Join the development organization for Nasdaq Regulatory Technology. The main objective for the development team in Mumbai is to build and maintain state of the art compliance software. As a new member, you will work with a group of enthusiastic and experienced team members across business, legal, and other development teams. Together with your team, you will be responsible for delivery of enhancements and supporting software and technology used to ensure the regulatory compliance of the trading platforms and surveillance applications.

Your role and responsibilities:

You will be a member of a technology-focused team that works across the globe, delivering critical regulatory solutions and services to the Nasdaq markets. You will be responsible for essential project delivery activities and internal business, legal and development team interactions.  You will be responsible for triaging potential issues across these groups and achieving consensus on a solution.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with strong experienced teams delivering critical technology solutions. You will work with and learn from subject matter experts, and have the opportunity to take on more responsibility within the Regulatory Technology team.  Besides working closely with your colleagues in Mumbai, you will also work closely with Nasdaq teams in other countries.

Furthermore, you will: 

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot and implement application software for Regulatory Technology projects.
  • Parse rulebook language and design models that will be used as the basis for the design of test scripts.
  • Participate in business and technical design reviews of the trading engines, functional specification reviews, develop level of effort estimates for rulebook compliance testing.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential problems/issues including input of rulebook language and functional behavior of trading engines.
  • Conduct testing, create models of the rules, review results, identify issues, and coordinate resolution between business, legal, and development groups.
  • Participate in surveillance pattern design reviews, create models and technical design documents,  and conduct data analysis that will drive decisions on optimal parameter usage.

We expect you to have:

  • At least 10+ years experience in software development, compliance testing, and data analytics.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to bring together disparate points of views and opinions to achieve consensus across multiple teams.
  • Experience using Java.
  • Expert understanding of databases, and ability to  write complex queries.
  • Basic understanding of market trading platforms.
  • Strong grammar and writing skills.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as GitLab.
  • Education Qualification: Bachelor/Master in science, engineering, computer science, math, or statistics.

It would be great if you:

  • Knowledge of trading and market structures.
  • Knowledge of surveillance patterns and algorithms.
  • Good understanding of SQL, Python and data analysis.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Experience with regulatory rule drafting and interpretation.
