Job Description

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its NetSoft team. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, as well as experience with distributed systems and networks. Responsibilities include writing and testing code, participating in design reviews, reviewing code developed by other developers, contributing to documentation, and resolving product or system issues. This is a full-time position located in Sydney, Australia.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
5 years of experience with software development
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
1 year of experience with software design and architecture
Experience developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture

Good to have:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
Experience developing accessible technologies
Experience in a technical leadership role
Experience with mathematical optimization or operations research software, such as LP solvers or network flow algorithms

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Experience developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

Responsibilities

Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide on available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
