As a Senior Sound Designer on Riot's Research & Development team, you'll focus on gameplay audio for an unpublished product. Responsibilities include creating a wide range of audio styles, driving audio quality for characters, meeting deadlines, partnering with team members for audio solutions, implementing in-game assets (SFX, VO), field recording, and developing team standards. You'll be an audio ambassador, fostering strong team relationships. The role requires expert knowledge of audio software and game engines (Unreal, Wwise/Fmod), strong communication, and a collaborative spirit. You'll contribute to the entire audio pipeline, from conception to implementation, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the player experience.

Job Details

As a Sound Designer at Riot, your creative and technical audio skills will combine to immerse players and enhance the game experience.  You'll join efforts with a multidisciplinary team to help drive new gameplay features from their inception to their completion.  You'll use your expert knowledge, creativity, and critical thinking to help guide team decisions and provide valuable feedback to your peers. As a member of the audio discipline, you’ll strive to find ways to teach and level up those around you while continuing to challenge and grow yourself.

As a Senior Sound Designer on the Research & Development Team, you'll be primarily focused on Gameplay Audio including Characters, Environments, and Core Mechanics. This will involve designing audio assets from scratch (sfx, vo), implementing Audio Assets in-engine, working with the team to identify opportunities to improve the audio experience You will also be responsible for developing standards, processes and conventions that improve team effectiveness. In this role, you will report to the Audio Craft Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Create a broad range of audio styles across the gameplay experience
  • Drive the audio quality bar for characters
  • Meet project deadlines in a timely manner without compromising sonic integrity
  • Partner with team members to find audio solutions that best support gameplay needs.
  • Implement in-game audio assets including sound effects, and voice over.
  • Perform Field recording, and brand new source library creation.
  • Be an audio ambassador, creating thriving relationships that enhance the team's ability to deliver high quality audio.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Audio in the games industry
  • Professional experience working in Unreal
  • Exceptional Wwise or Fmod implementation skills.
  • Proficient with modern day audio software tools (Pro-Tools, Reaper, Plugins)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unreal Blueprints visual scripting language or equivalent
  • Expertise working in the holistic game audio process (sound design, voice-over, music, implementation, pipelines, technology, player experience, etc.).
  • Strong sense of game design and gameplay
  • Excellent communication, time-management, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable and experienced with JIRA, and Perforce 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/workstreams simultaneously. 
  • Experience working on a multiplayer game
  • Experience with character audio design 
  • Experience in field recording
