The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience as a C++ software developer and a good understanding of Computer Science fundamentals. They will also be able to take initiative and bring projects to completion with minimal supervision.

  • 6+ years of experience as a C++ software developer
  • 1+ year of experience as a Staff developer or equivalent level

  • Excellent engineering skills and a good understanding of Computer Science fundamentals
  • Leadership skills: ability to take initiative and bring a subject to completion with minimal supervision
  • Experience supporting and mentoring other team members
Perks:
  • Dynamic work culture that values respect and kindness
  • Embraces the right to fail and learn from mistakes
  • Values people skills as much as technical skills

  • Continuous education opportunities
  • Prioritizes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Why should I Apply:

At Sonar, we’re a group of brilliant, motivated, and driven professionals working hard to help organizations build responsible, secure, high-quality code quickly and systematically. We build solutions that don’t just solve symptoms of problems – we fix problems at the source – source code, to be specific.

We have a dynamic culture with employees worldwide and hub offices in the USA, Switzerland, the UK, Singapore, and Germany. We believe team members should have the opportunity to come to work every day, work on a product they are proud of, love what they do, and feel energized by their peers. With our roots deep in the open source community, we’re all about the mission: provide solutions that deliver Clean Code.

The impact you will have

The SonarSource Analysis Team is seeking a passionate Staff C++ Developer to contribute to our advanced CFamily analyzer.

SonarSource’s CFamily code analyzer is designed to fulfil the needs of C and C++ developers: spotting tricky code quality and security issues as fast as possible while generating as little noise as possible. Dereferences of null pointers, memory leaks, dead code, and logic flow errors … are some examples of those quality issues. The analyzer also helps enforce coding standards like CPP Core Guidelines and MISRA C++2023. The analyzer is built on top of the Clang front-end and can run inside the IDE as well as on CI systems. The analyzer is compatible with the mainstream C and C++ compilers: Clang, GCC, MSVC, and Arm.

Joining the CFamily team offers the ultimate challenge of analyzing C++, one of the most intricate programming languages in the world.

On a daily basis, you will

    • Have strong ownership of the team’s work and lead the execution of its sprints to completion: do specifications, write code and tests, review code from peers, validate features, and follow up on user feedback after the release.
    • Develop new and maintain existing features for the C and C++ code analyzer.
    • Dive deep into the C++ language and argue about the best guidelines to use it effectively.
    • Evolve the way our analyzers understand code by creating better models and developing new rules on top of them.
    • Interact with clang front-end and have the opportunity to contribute back to it.
    • Provide mentorship to engineers to help them grow in their technical responsibilities and remove blockers to their autonomy.
    • Collaborate with Product Managers and peers to define new features and set priorities, ensuring that the solutions fit into the Sonar ecosystem.
    • Coordinate with different stakeholders to define the team’s short and long-term goals.

The technical skills you will demonstrate

    • 6+ years of experience as a C++ software developer.
    • 1+ year of experience as a Staff developer or equivalent level.
    • Good knowledge of engineering processes.
    • Excellent engineering skills and a good understanding of Computer Science fundamentals.
    • Leadership: you’re able to take initiative and bring a subject to completion with little to no supervision. You have experience supporting and mentoring other team members.
Why you will love it here:

Our culture and mission set us apart. We have a dynamic work culture that values respect and kindness – and embraces the right to fail (and get right back up again!). We believe that the best idea wins and everyone has a voice.
We believe that great people make a great company. We value people skills as much as technical skills and strive to keep things friendly and laid-back while still being passionate leaders in our domains. Our 550+ SonarSourcers from 33 different nationalities can relate!
We embrace work-life balance. It is important to maintain a healthy work-life balance. This is why we have a flexible work policy that includes remote and in-office hybrid work (minimum three days a week in the office - Monday/Tuesday/Thursday).
We have a growth mindset. We love to learn and believe that continuous education is critical to our success. In an ever-changing industry, new skills are a must, and we're happy to help our team acquire them.

We prioritize Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

At Sonar, we are a global workforce and recognize the value of different backgrounds, and global cultures.

We are committed to creating a diverse work environment and are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

All offers of employment at Sonar are contingent upon the clear results of a comprehensive background check conducted prior to the start date.
