Job Description

This Technical Lead Software Engineer role focuses on Cloud Interconnect Networking. Responsibilities include leading a team of software engineers, guiding technical direction, designing, developing, and improving systems connecting customer networks to Google Cloud, collaborating with cross-functional teams to launch new products and features, and ensuring code quality through reviews. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in software development, network design and architecture, and possesses strong leadership skills. The role requires staying updated on the latest networking technologies and trends. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Must have:

8+ years software development experience
5+ years network design & implementation
Experience with TCP/IP, BGP
Software design & architecture expertise
Team leadership and technical direction

Good to have:

Master's degree in related field
Experience with Java or Go
Experience in a complex, matrixed organization
Excellent communication skills

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
5 years of experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
5 years of experience with network architectures, protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, etc.), and technologies, as well as concepts like scalability, fault tolerance, and consistency.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
Experience with Java or Go, with the ability to resolve customer-related issues.
Experience in developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
