Job Description

AriensCo is seeking a motivated Tool & Die Technician for their Fayetteville, TN location. The role involves studying blueprints, assessing tooling condition, operating machine tools, and fabricating parts. The technician will be responsible for ensuring dies are sharp, fabricating fixtures, and assembling mechanisms. The candidate must be able to work to precise tolerances and have basic problem-solving skills. This role also includes fitting and assembling cam-operated mechanisms and dismantling/repairing die components. The job provides the opportunity to work in a rewarding workplace with a strong sense of community.
Must have:
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • General mechanical aptitude required to comprehend dies and fixtures.
  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Basic PC skills are required.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to detailed instructions.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge or experience operating hand tools (air wrenches, etc.) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of software like Microsoft Word or Excel is required.

Job Description:

AriensCo is recruiting for a motivated and passionate Tool & Die Technician for our location in Fayetteville, TN.

THE DAY TO DAY...

  • Studies blueprints of die and product, die models, templates, and prototype parts and visualizes shape, mechanical structure, and operation of tool
  • Assesses condition of stamping tooling and determines what if any action needs to be taken to improve its operating condition
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as saws, lathes, milling machines, radial drill presses, surface grinders, welders and punch grinders to machine parts to specifications, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications
  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.  Operates surface grinders to ensure stamping dies are sharp and ready for production
  • Fabricates carts, jigs, and fixtures as requested by ancillary departments
  • Lifts machined parts and positions them for assembly on worktable or surface plate
  • Smooths flat and contoured surfaces and fits parts to each other
  • Verifies dimensions, clearances, and alignment of members and parts in die.  This person must possess basic problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Works to tolerances as close as .001
  • Fits and assembles cam operated mechanisms for lateral movement of part of die
  • Dismantles die and repairs or replaces parts

THE QUALIFICATIONS...

  • Employee must possess a high school diploma/GED
  • Display a general mechanical aptitude - to comprehend, and understand dies and fixtures, and the ability to disassemble and reassemble this type of tooling is necessary.  Knowledge or experience in operating various hand tools such as air wrenches, grinders, and sanding equipment is a plus.  The ability to read, comprehend, and act using basic mechanical blueprints is required
  • Language skills - ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
  • Basic PC skills - should possess basic PC understand and operating skills.  Knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word or Excel is required
  • Mathematical skills - ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Reasoning ability - ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
