Job Description

The VP, Media Planning and Strategy role at Carat involves leading a high-performing team and providing strategic guidance for client media planning. Responsibilities include developing media strategies, coaching the team, driving employee retention, leading strategic positioning, expanding the team's media knowledge, identifying development areas, supporting media buying teams, implementing quality control processes, preparing client reports, and participating in new business efforts. This role requires a data-driven approach to continuous improvement within a shared service organization. The candidate will report to the SVP, Media Solutions.
Must have:
  • 10+ years of media planning experience across all media channels
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience leading a team
  • Knowledge of bid management and campaign management
  • Experience supporting new business efforts
  • Expertise in developing media planning strategies

Job Details

Job Description: Role Overview: Carat is seeking VP, Media Planning and Strategy is responsible for developing a high-performing team and providing guidance on client and media planning strategy. The VP, Media Planning will oversee the entire planning process for their dedicated client groups and collaborates with trafficking, media operations and media buying teams to achieve client goals. This role is critical in enforcing and providing input into the overall media planning direction as well as overseeing the quality standards of the team’s planning strategy and execution. You will report to the SVP, Media Solutions. This role is preferably based in Miami, though we are open to remote markets. Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for outputs and the development of media planning team for assigned group of client(s) to improve campaign process to improve and achieve client goals.
  • Interpret research and provide insight and thought leadership that effectively translates brand marketing objectives into succinct media strategies.
  • Coaches team to develop planning strategies that maximize media dollars and media efficiency.
  • Drives employee retention by providing feedback to the Leadership and HR team to help retain top talent in Latin America.   
  • Leads the strategic positioning, segmentation initiatives and in areas of holistic program planning and communications idea generation/execution.
  • Grows the sophistication of the team’s media knowledge, expanding into data and technology.
  • Identifies development areas in team members to help achieve and drive their performance goals for the year.
  • Supports the media buying teams throughout campaign activation process to maintain performance and resolves any campaign-related issues.
  • Facilitates the implementation of quality control processes and systems across client groups.
  • Prepares reporting documentation for clients demonstrating the strategy and rationale executed to deliver on campaign goals.
  • Participates and presents in new business efforts for the LatAm Network.
  • Instils a high-performance, data-driven, continuous improvement culture within a shared service organization.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of media planning experience focused on All Media Channels and a minimum of 3-years’ experience leading a team.  
  • Influential senior people leader with the ability to lead, coach and develop and retain top talent while addressing performance.
  • Knowledge of bid management, campaign management and optimization process with key Data, Supply and DSP partners.
  • Previous experience with support new business efforts at the Network or brand level.
  • Subject matter expert in developing media planning strategies that meet and exceed client campaign goals and objectives.
  • Advanced knowledge of Media Planning and Research Tools
  • Ability to instill confidence and manage expectations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical skills and proficient with numbers and budgets to illustrate client business objectives.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation and people skills.
  • Must be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
The annual salary range for this position is $136,000-$219,000. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
