The Web Solutions Engineer at Google's gTech Analytics, Platforms, and Tools team will manage solutions for efficiency improvements within the Global Business Organization. Responsibilities include designing, building, deploying, and improving full-stack web applications using Google's tools; analyzing problems and developing solutions; contributing to design documents, tests, and code (JavaScript, Python, TypeScript, SQL); and providing subject-matter expertise. The role involves working with large datasets, prototyping, and adhering to Google's best practices, collaborating with Project/Product Management and Engineering teams. The team develops and supports tools, focusing on scalability and user experience.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related field
  • 2+ years full-stack web development
  • 2+ years Java, C++, Python or OOP experience
  • 1+ year TypeScript/Javascript and SQL
  • Design, build, deploy, improve web apps
Good to have:
  • Unit testing, agile development, bug/change management
  • Effective technical solutions to business challenges
  • Adaptability and task prioritization

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in full-stack web development.
  • 2 years of experience in Java, C++, Python, or related object oriented programming.
  • 1 year of experience in TypeScript/Javascript front-end programming and Database/SQL.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated passion for engineering and experience with unit testing, agile project development, and bug and change management systems.
  • Ability to provide effective technical solutions to business challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible/adaptable in exercising judgment in a dynamic environment and to prioritize and manage tasks efficiently.

About the job

The gTech Analytics, Platforms, and Tools team maintains close relationships with the Engineering and Product partners necessary to develop and improve Google’s products and internal tools. As a Web Solutions Engineer on the Tools Development and Automation team, you'll be responsible for managing solutions that make our broader Global Business Organization more efficient. You'll help drive the development of tools and will be involved in ideating required product features and designing/implementing quick and scalable solutions. You will work with Google’s infrastructure to take on big problems over large datasets.

Additionally, you’ll be working as a part of an Engineering team responsible for developing and supporting tools, prototyping proofs of concept, and writing/reviewing technical design documents to meet the needs of our services teams. You will adhere to Google’s software development best practices and work in close partnership with other Project/Product Management and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and improve elegant, scalable, and modern full-stack web applications using standard and Google-specific software development tools. This may include ensuring reliable backends, building pipelines to aggregate data from multiple sources, implementing responsive and UX-rich front-ends, or enhancing performance of existing tools and services.
  • Analyze problems, develop solutions, identify dependencies, and resolve issues to drive implementation.
  • Make technical contributions, including writing and reviewing design documents, tests, and code (e.g., JavaScript, Python, TypeScript, SQL).
  • Provide subject-matter expertise.
