Job Description

The Anti-Money Laundering Specialist at Google Payments Compliance ensures Google's operations align with financial regulations. This role involves developing and enhancing policies, managing reporting and licensing, and providing broad oversight. Responsibilities include overseeing the Merchant onboarding and Transaction monitoring program in India, leading Transaction monitoring escalation reviews and STR filing, monitoring control effectiveness, and advocating for controls initiatives with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and investigative skills, experience with KYC/AML monitoring, and a deep understanding of regulatory reporting requirements. This role requires navigating ambiguity in a dynamic environment and collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
2+ years in regulatory compliance (KYC/AML)
KYC onboarding, due diligence, AML transaction monitoring
Regulatory reporting (STR filing)
Experience in payments industry
Excellent communication and investigative skills

Good to have:

Experience with PMLA Rules
Experience working with highly regulated sectors

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Legal, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience in regulatory compliance with a specialisation in KYC/AML monitoring.
Experience in KYC onboarding checks and due diligence, AML Transaction Monitoring and regulatory reporting requirements including filing of STR.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in regulatory guidelines around KYC, AML and CFT, PMLA Rules, etc.
Experience in regulatory reporting such as STR filing.
Experience working with highly regulated sectors such as the payments industry.
Ability to navigate through ambiguity in a fluid, and dynamic environment.
Excellent attention to detail, written and verbal communication, time management, and investigative skills.

The Google Payments Compliance team makes sure that Google's business is always operating in line with current financial regulations. This team balances Google's compliance requirements with the dynamic needs of our users and the values of our company. In this role, you will get to be on the front-line of our regulatory needs. This includes development and enhancement of policies, reporting and licensing needs, broad oversight, and working cross-functionally with teams internally and externally. Additionally, you will identify pain points and gaps in existing policy frameworks and find good solutions. You will play a key role in ensuring teams across Payments understand the criticality of being compliant.

Responsibilities

Assist with maintaining oversight of Payments Compliance legal and contractual obligations in India. Assist with the management of corporate governance responsibilities for regulated payments entities.
Ensure policies and procedures are effective and reflective of current compliance obligations Oversight of the Merchant onboarding and Transaction monitoring program in India and fulfilling reporting obligations for it.
Lead Transaction monitoring escalation reviews and Suspicious Transactions Reporting (STR) filing. Monitor the ongoing effectiveness of controls and escalate where necessary.
Be an agent of change by advocating controls initiatives with cross-functional partners such as Engineering, Legal, Operations, Finance, and Product Management. Monitor changes in regulations and industry best practices.
