Job Description

The Game Band is seeking an Art Director to shape and enhance the visual identity of their games. The Art Director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the visual style, guiding and inspiring a team of artists across various disciplines, and ensuring the visual direction aligns with gameplay, tone, and story. They will also define style guides, provide feedback, and prioritize art needs for development milestones. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and a deep understanding of visual storytelling and art production workflows.
Must have:
  • Experience as a lead or senior artist on at least one shipped game.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating art direction experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary art teams.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Deep understanding of visual storytelling and game pipelines.
Good to have:
  • Experience with stylized art direction and pipelines.
  • Experience with Unity.
  • Experience working on games with systemic or emergent gameplay.

The Game Band is looking for an Art Director to help define and elevate the visual identity of our games.

As an Art Director, You Will

  • Establish and own the visual style—from big-picture vision to small, intentional details.
  • Guide and inspire a team of artists across multiple disciplines, including concept, 3D, animation, UI, and VFX.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and narrative leads to ensure visual direction supports gameplay, tone, and story.
  • Define style guides and maintain visual consistency across all aspects of the game.
  • Provide feedback and mentorship that empowers artists to do their best work.
  • Help scope and prioritize art needs to support development milestones.

Requirements

  • Experience as a lead or senior artist on at least one shipped game.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating a distinct visual sensibility and art direction experience.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire multidisciplinary art teams.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Deep understanding of visual storytelling, game pipelines, and art production workflows.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with stylized art direction and pipelines.
  • Experience with Unity.
  • Experience working on games with systemic or emergent gameplay.
