Summary

The Senior VFX Artist in Montpellier contributes to the creation of high-quality cinematics for franchises like Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, and Star Wars Outlaws. Collaboration with artists, technical artists, and developers is crucial, along with planning, estimating, and prioritizing tasks. The ideal candidate will optimize work, share best practices, and support the team with ad-hoc tasks.
Must have:
  • Solid VFX expertise within technical constraints
  • Proficiency in Maya, 3DS Max, or Blender
  • AAA game VFX experience (at least 1 game)
  • Knowledge of real-time game engines & pipelines
  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills
Good to have:
  • Houdini knowledge
  • Adobe Photoshop/After Effects expertise
  • Knowledge of animation and concept art
  • Experience with project management software (Shotgrid, Jira)

Job Description

The strong cinematics team in Montpellier helps players discover the history of our universes, including Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar. More than 20 professions work together to produce high quality cinematics.


As a Senior VFX Artist on the Art Team, you will be responsible for creating and/or adapting high quality visual effects in line with technical constraints and artistic direction.

  • Produce quality effects at all stages of the cinematic production process, respecting the technical and artistic constraints of the project; 
  • Be a reference for the team in terms of various artistic/technical elements. 
  • Share knowledge and help motivate the team; 
  • Contribute to the artist validation process by conducting reviews as needed and providing appropriate feedback; 
  • Effectively communicate the specific artistic direction of projects to the rest of the team and provide production solutions to the team; 
  • Actively participate in the implementation of more efficient ways of working; 
  • Build relationships with artists, technical artists and other project developers to facilitate effective collaboration during the resource production process; 
  • Plan, estimate and prioritise deadlines for the completion of tasks and monitor progress using designated monitoring tools; 
  • Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders to confirm the direction of tasks and ensure consistency of work within the team; 
  • Optimise work and maintain a balance between quality and performance; 
  • Establish and share best practice, production pipelines and workflows across the group; 
  • Support DT FX with any ad hoc tasks and responsibilities.  

Qualifications

Technical and business skills

  • Solid expertise in achieving good results within technical constraints.
  • Knowledge of Maya, 3DS MAX or Blender.
  • Excellent knowledge of the video game industry and awareness of video game development processes.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and/or After Effects.
  • Thorough understanding of workload management software/principles (Jira).
  • Knowledge of project management software (Shotgrid).
  • Knowledge of data management software (e.g. Perforce).
  • Knowledge of HOUDINI is an advantage.
  • Significant JV experience: contributing to at least 1 or more games as a VFX artist, AAA.
  • Knowledge of AAA production constraints.
  • Bachelor's degree in Visual Effects or other relevant education.
  • Experience with at least 1 real-time game engine and production pipelines.
  • Knowledge of animation, concept art to enhance VFX is a plus.
  • Design compelling and immersive effects to enrich the user experience.
  • Ensure that each visual effect is accurate, realistic and perfectly integrated into the gameplay.
  • Maintain a high level of quality by meticulously checking all graphical elements.
  • Ongoing training in technological innovations and VFX software.
  • Fluent in English
