About the Role
We are seeking an Associate Product Manager or Product Manager with experience in Publishing to join our team for maternity cover. In this role, you will support managing and evolving Springer Nature’s institutional journal and eBook business models with a focus on corporate markets. Your goal will be to ensure these offerings continue to meet customer needs while aligning with our commercial objectives.
You will join the GTM (Go-To-Market) & Business Model Strategy team, which is part of the Marketing Strategy division. The team advises, develops and aligns on business opportunities to drive growth and foster innovation. This position offers an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to Springer Nature’s institutional product offerings and deliver value for our customers and internal stakeholders.
Role Responsibilities
In this role, you will manage and develop institutional subscription business models, contributing to the team’s roadmap under the guidance of the Head of Business Model Development. This includes:
Supporting and contributing to the development of product strategies, in collaboration with the Head of Business Model Development, with a focus on electronic journal and eBook subscription business models targeting Corporate and Health segments.
Providing subject-matter expertise as a key business partner for Research Sales and Marketing, acting as the first port of call for product-related inquiries.
Overseeing the performance of established business models, including identifying opportunities for optimization in value proposition, processes, sales enablement, and technical setup using both quantitative and qualitative data.
Maintaining comprehensive documentation and providing regular updates and training to sales teams.
Developing business model strategies, delivering on the team’s objectives and key results (OKRs).
Developing a good understanding of external and internal customer problems and pain points, actively seeking opportunities to analyze and validate the understanding.
Managing subscription models for the corporate and health markets throughout their entire lifecycle, focusing on commercial aspects, value proposition, processes, technical setup, and sales enablement.
Managing various business model-related tasks such as the creation of on-demand journal and book collections, title and price lists, sales enablement materials, and data dashboards.
Maintaining existing processes and workflows, continuously identifying opportunities for optimization and increased efficiency.
Collaborating with other departments to ensure the successful implementation of new and established business models, including Sales Operations, Sales, Marketing, Business Systems, Platform, and Finance.
Staying up to date with competitor offerings and industry trends.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Essential
Familiarity/experience with/in the Publishing industry and STM (Scientific, Technical, Medical) market
Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrable experience
Expertise in applying product and commercial logic to solve challenges
Business acumen and strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
Excellent communication and project management skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively
Expertise in CRM systems and Generative AI to enhance productivity
Ability to understand when/how to balance user needs with business objectives
Ability to leverage stakeholders’ experience, expertise and perspectives, and to work with and challenge stakeholders appropriately
Ability to build effective relationships through positive communication that motivates and influences others, especially in a matrix corporate environment
Ability to take responsibility and accountability for quality outcomes, and actively seek out opportunities to create effective change
Business proficiency in English
Desirable
Experience in working internationally and cross-functionally, particularly with stakeholders in sales, product and marketing
Prior experience in commercial product management, customer-centric market analytics, marketing or revenue-generating roles.
Good understanding of digital products and related technologies, such as APIs would be ideal
