What You’ll Do 

Telstra’s in-house creative agency is looking for a specialist 1:1Copywriter to craft high-performing, customer-centric messaging across email, SMS, push notifications and personalised digital communications.  

This role is the brand guardian for tone of voice across all CRM communications, ensuring that every customer touchpoint is clear, engaging and strategically aligned with business objectives.  

Sitting within the 1:1 Squad and working alongside our in-house agency team, this role will collaborate closely with 1:1 Strategists, Designers and Marketing Automation Teams to ensure copy aligns with best practice in 1:1, compelling for the audience, optimized for performance and aligned with customer data insights.  

Key Focus Areas: 

  • Elevating Telstra’s creative standards across all touchpoints, including all 1:1 and CRM channels  

  • Ensuring all 1:1 copy is aligned with Telstra's tone of voice & channel best practice guidelines  

  • Building a culture of creativity, innovation and operational efficiency.  

  • Ensuring customer insights and data-driven strategies inform creative solutions. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

CRM Copywriting & Personalised Messaging  

  • Develop and refine clear, concise and compelling copy for all 1:1 customer communications. 

  • Craft email subject lines, pre-headers, and SMS messages that drive engagement and conversion.  

  • Adapt messaging based on customer segmentation, behavioural triggers and lifecycle stages. 

  • Ensure copy aligns with brand voice, marketing objectives and customer experience best practices.  

Performance-driven Copy Optimization  

  • Support A/B test plans through copywriting (including subject lines, headlines & messaging). 

  • Work closely with analytics and automation teams to refine content based on open rates, click-through rates and conversion metrics. 

  • Optimize copy for deliverability, mobile responsiveness and personalization frameworks.  

Stakeholder Collaboration & Content Development  

  • Collaborate with designers and automation specialists to create cohesive, high-performing CRM assets. 

  • Support the development and maintenance of tone of voice guidelines for 1:1 communications. 

  • Ensure alignment with marketing, product, and strategy teams to refine messaging strategies.  

Here’s how you can bring this role to life: 

Knowledge & Experience  

  • 5+ years of experience in CRM copywriting, email/SMS marketing or 1:1 customer communications. 

  • Strong portfolio, showcasing high-performing email and SMS copywriting. 

  • Deep understanding of personalization, customer journey mapping and behavioural targeting. 

  • Experience working with marketing automation platforms (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Campaign, HubSpot or similar) not a barrier but helpful. 

  • Proven ability to analyse content performance metrics and iterate based on insights.  

Skills  

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with an emphasis on email, SMS and push notification formats. 

  • Proficiency in A/B testing frameworks and performance-driven messaging strategies. 

  • Open to feedback and iteration with a problem-solving mindset  

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and complex products in a highly regulated industry 

  • Familiarity with marketing automation, segmentation and CRM workflows. 

  • Understanding of accessibility best practices in email and mobile-first messaging. 

  • Strong attention to detail
