We’re currently seeking a Cyber Security Engineer III for our client, a top global retail brand that connects millions of buyers and sellers around the world. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong security operations and incident response experience to join a dynamic team supporting a 24x7x365 Security Operations Center (SOC).

As a Cyber Security Engineer III, you’ll play a key role in the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), providing support for incident investigations, cyber analysis, and scripting automation. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team to defend the company’s systems and data from security threats, contributing to ongoing security enhancements in a hybrid work environment located in San Jose, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Incident Response & Digital Forensics: Lead investigations to determine the scope of security incidents, perform analysis, and implement countermeasures.
  • Security Escalations & Controls: Respond to escalated events, apply security controls, and develop defense strategies to prevent breaches.
  • Research & Threat Mitigation: Investigate and analyze efforts to compromise systems, and design appropriate countermeasures.
  • Education & Training: Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures, and contribute to the ongoing development of security protocols.
  • Communication: Collaborate across teams, providing status updates and security recommendations. Create pass-downs for shift transitions and engage with stakeholders via email and conference calls.
  • Forensics Support: Perform HR investigations and legal holds in a forensically sound manner, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Shift Work: Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with a four-day-on, three-day-off schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in incident detection, response, malware analysis, or digital forensics.
  • At least one relevant certification (e.g., GIAC, CISSP, CEH, OSCP, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of incident response, penetration testing, network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS), and scripting (e.g., Python, Perl).
  • Expertise in security operations and the ability to manage security incidents from detection to resolution.
  • Ability to analyze and mitigate risk, with knowledge of system forensics, memory forensics, and vulnerability management.

Desired Skills:

  • Specialized experience in Security Assessment, Application Security, or Cyber Intelligence Analysis.
  • Proficiency with SIEM tools for log analysis and threat hunting.
