Job Description

As the Data Protection Lead, you will be a key part of the Global Risk and Compliance Team, managing and evolving the privacy compliance program across the UK and EU, while supporting global efforts in regions like the US, APAC, and beyond. You will be the subject matter expert for all data protection matters, ensuring the highest standards for people, partners, and customers. Key responsibilities include leading the UK/EU data privacy compliance framework, acting as primary contact for data protection matters, managing a team of Privacy Compliance Specialists, supporting global privacy efforts, coordinating information security monitoring, liaising with Supervisory Authorities, reviewing contracts, providing compliance input for RFPs, developing training, and promoting a culture of security and compliance.
Must have:
  • 3-5 years' experience in data protection, senior/lead capacity.
  • Expert knowledge of UK and EU data protection laws.
  • Experience leading a data compliance program.
  • Experience with privacy tools like OneTrust.
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001 and info security frameworks.
Good to have:
  • Certifications like CIPP/E, CIPM, BCS or similar.
  • Leadership experience and team development skills.
  • Background in tech, telco, or financial services.
  • Knowledge of global privacy regulations (e.g. US, India, APAC).
  • Experience with PCI DSS, DORA, or similar standards.

The Role: Data Protection Lead

As our Data Protection Lead, you'll be a key part of our Global Risk and Compliance Team, managing and evolving our privacy compliance programme across the UK and EU—and supporting global efforts in regions like the US, APAC and beyond.

You’ll be the subject matter expert and go-to person for all things data protection, ensuring we uphold the highest standards for our people, our partners, and our customers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the UK/EU data privacy compliance framework and ensure its continuous improvement.

  • Act as the primary contact for all data protection matters across the region.

  • Manage and support a small team of Privacy Compliance Specialists.

  • Assist in global privacy efforts alongside the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer.

  • Support the governance of ISO 27001 certification and coordinate information security monitoring.

  • Liaise with Supervisory Authorities and act as DPO for the German entity.

  • Review and manage vendor and customer contracts for data protection risk.

  • Provide compliance input for RFPs, audits, and due diligence.

  • Develop and deliver engaging training (face-to-face and eLearning).

  • Maintain privacy documentation and oversee our privacy platform (OneTrust).

  • Promote a culture of security and compliance across the business.

What you’ll need to succeed

Must have:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in data protection, including in a senior or lead capacity.

  • Expert knowledge of UK and EU data protection laws and practices.

  • Hands-on experience leading a data compliance programme or key initiatives.

  • Experience with privacy tools like OneTrust.

  • Familiarity with ISO 27001 and information security frameworks.

Nice to have:

  • Certifications like CIPP/E, CIPM, BCS or similar.

  • Leadership experience and team development skills.

  • Background in tech, telco, or financial services.

  • Knowledge of global privacy regulations (e.g. US, India, APAC).

  • Experience with PCI DSS, DORA, or similar standards.
