Our client is a large Gaming company that has created and developed award-winning video game franchises across multiple platforms for over 2 decades, selling more than 70 million games along the way.


Job Title: Lighting Artist


Summary: Responsible for lighting and post processing work on levels and cinematics utilizing proprietary tools. Is expected to adhere to internal workflows and a strong understanding of physically based rendering.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Five plus years of professional experience with implementing, maintaining and refining of real-time level and cinematic lighting.
  • Solid understanding of scripting lighting interactions.
  • A solid understanding of technical aspects of the job regarding video game performance, scripting, and debugging of issues is required.
  • Must have strong time management and communication skills.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Implementing, maintaining and refining of real-time level and cinematic lighting.
  • Sets up scene lights to consistently match color keys and concept art with an excellent understanding of project lighting style
  • Self-directed and able to work independently to maintain consistent excellent aesthetics and technical quality in all lighting tasks
  • Troubleshoots large scale scene files and rendering issues
  • Troubleshoots materials for PBR (Physically Based Rendering) compliance
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting lighting issues related to performance.
  • Diagnoses and fixes lighting issues and bugs
  • Works closely with other art departments to ensure assets are properly set up for lighting
  • Collaborates with designers to ensure that the correct areas are emphasized for gameplay with clear player paths
  • Works with Art Director and Lead Lighter to help further the lighting style of project
  • Helps tech artists and other senior lighting staff to test and debug new lighting technology
  • Other duties may be assigned
