Job Description

As a Senior Gameplay Engineer (Unreal Engine 3C), you'll design and implement core gameplay systems (movement, camera, controls) using Unreal Engine (Blueprints & C++). You'll create scalable, sustainable solutions, ensuring a smooth player experience and collaborating with design, animation, and QA teams. Responsibilities include developing systems for exploring a magical wilderness, advocating for excellent gameplay feel, and integrating diverse team needs. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, collaboration abilities, and experience in agile development environments. The ideal candidate has shipped at least one title and possesses expertise in Unreal animation, netcode debugging and optimization.

As a Senior Gameplay Engineer (Unreal Engine 3C), you will sit at the intersection of engineering and game design, crafting movement and camera controls that make gameplay feel rich, tactile, and intuitive. You will develop systems that enable players to explore a magical wilderness, delivering a responsive, immersive third-person experience that pushes the boundaries of character motion.

A Day In The Life:

  • Use Unreal Engine (Blueprints & C++) to design and implement core gameplay systems for character movement, camera, and controls, ensuring a smooth, engaging player experience.

  • Develop scalable and sustainable solutions to support the ongoing evolution of our game for years after launch.

  • Advocate for excellence in gameplay feel and animation across the entire studio.

  • Collaborate closely with design, animation, QA, and other disciplines, providing technical expertise and integrating their needs into your work.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of industry experience working on gameplay systems across one or more shipped titles.

  • Deep expertise in Unreal Engine, including Blueprints and C++.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a creative mindset for overcoming complex gameplay and systems challenges.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with a strong ability to collaborate across disciplines.

  • Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working independently while contributing to a highly collaborative team.

  • Experience working in an agile, flexible development environment and contributing to major team decisions.

  • Located in North American time zones (US & Canada | PST-EST).

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Shipped a real-time multiplayer title.

  • Deep expertise Unreal animation

  • Debugging and optimizing netcode
