Job Description

The Group Manager, Indirect Procurement at Tesla is responsible for managing the procurement of logistics services, packaging materials, and other indirect costs. This role demands strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and relationship building with suppliers and internal teams. Responsibilities include developing and executing sourcing strategies, identifying cost reduction opportunities, managing a team of buyers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, negotiating contracts, monitoring supplier performance, and ensuring compliance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in procurement, particularly in logistics and packaging, and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The Group Manager Indirect Procurement, specializing in Logistics and Packaging is responsible for managing the procurement of logistics services, packaging materials, and other indirect costs. The role requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers, internal clients and team.

What You’ll Do

Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and best practices in logistics and packaging procurement.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for logistics and packaging categories. Identify cost reduction opportunities and drive supplier consolidation initiatives.
Develop and manage a team of buyers to ensure Tesla’s profitability and growth.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including logistics, operations, finance, and legal, to ensure alignment and support for procurement initiatives.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and supervise regular supplier reviews to ensure compliance with contracts and service level agreements.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions. Review and manage contracts to ensure compliance and planned cost savings.
Analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities for additional cost savings, especially by having the right contract for the business.. Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives.
Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, supplier financial stability, and other factors that may impact the procurement process.
Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Identify opportunities for standardization, automation and digitalization.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, use of software applications, and regulatory requirements

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Extensive experience in procurement, with a focus on logistics and packaging categories.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Experience with strategic sourcing and supplier management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
