Summary

The Design Manager, APAC Creative, will collaborate with the APAC Creative team to develop strategic creative plans and style guides for APAC cross-franchises. Responsibilities include defining creative trends for each brand, creating design direction boards, developing creative assets (graphic designs, 3D concepts, art-to-product designs), assisting in the development of vision portfolios (Mickey & Friends, Classic, and Pixar franchises), collaborating with global creative teams, and coordinating with outsourced design teams. The role requires strong graphic design skills, experience in product development, excellent communication (English and Japanese), and proficiency in design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.).

Job Summary:

DESIGN DIRECTIONS

  • Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, you will collaborate within the APAC Creative team to develop strategic creative plans and style guides for APAC cross-franchises.
  • Define creative trends for each brand in partnership with the Product Development teams.
  • Contribute to the creation of design direction boards based on franchise strategies, new experiences, and attractions.
  • Develop creative assets aligned with brand strategy, delivering storytelling visual assets in graphic designs, 3D concepts, and art-to-product designs for licensing and O&O product development.
  • Assist in the development of vision portfolios for brands and key initiatives, with a primary focus on Mickey & Friends, Classic, and Pixar franchises.
  • Collaborate with global creative teams, offering APAC insights and creative solutions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in the Entertainment or Visual Art Design or Product Design industry for Graphic design.
  • Ability to work independently on design projects.
  • Ability to identify and align creative trends with each brand’s strategy and product development plans.
  • Solid expertise in graphic design for product development across multiple industries.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese.

  • Proficient in various presentational (Microsoft Office, Keynote…etc.) and professional design (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effect…etc.) software.

Contact Responsibility

INTERNAL:

  • Direct collaboration with the Character Art team for graphic design development.
  • Work closely with the Brand Merchandising and Product Design teams to identify creative directions, manage creative briefs, and ensure timely reviews and asset delivery.
  • Collaborate with Global and APAC regional creative teams to deliver franchise-focused brand visions and globally relevant creative assets.
  • Interface with corporate personnel as required.

EXTERNAL:

  • Coordinate with outsourced design teams for style guide development and creative execution.
