ABOUT THE JOB
Gunzilla Games is looking to recruit a Lead Materials Artist to lead our Materials team working on our game OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Battle Royale 2.0 third-person shooter, available as Early Access on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S and PC now.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Lead Materials Artist you will:
- To work alongside Art Directors and Art pipeline supervisor to Lead, motivate and inspire our Materials team, to maintain and push the visual quality while delivering within the production needs.
- Manage the team, including setting objectives, and quality expectations and providing visual benchmarks
- Coach, mentor and develop the team to ensure the personal growth of individuals as well as the whole team
- Oversee and improve studio material creation pipelines including exploration of new techniques and technologies
- Track and assign tasks in Jira and other project-tracking software.
- Work to highlight and mitigate any issues that may cause bottlenecks
- Work actively with designers and other departments to achieve the best look for the game.
- Share knowledge and work on improving project tools and their functions
REQUIREMENTS
You will have:
- Experience as a lead on at least one shipped AAA title
- Career experience which includes multiple AAA development cycles.
- A tech-minded approach, and a strong capacity to tweak and optimize content in all parts of the Materials creation pipeline and library.
- Experience in long planning and possible production problem-solving.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Zbrush, Substance Designer, and Substance Painter.
- Strong knowledge of PBR workflows and an understanding of how materials behave in the real world.
- Experience in creating realistic, game-ready textures using complex shaders
- Strong understanding of working with Open IO/Aces post-processing systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with technical team members
