Job Description

As a Loot Designer at Fatshark, you'll be responsible for designing and iterating on the game's reward systems, including currency, resources, and items. You'll analyze player behavior and feedback to create engaging and rewarding experiences, collaborating with other teams to achieve optimal looting. Your work will focus on balancing different playstyles and enabling player creativity through itemization and loadout options. This role requires proven experience in game economy design, particularly in multiplayer settings, and a passion for creating sustainable in-game economies.

We are Fatshark

We are a critically acclaimed Swedish game development studio with about 190 experienced and skilled employees. We are most well-known for developing the Warhammer: Vermintide franchise, but have also helped develop a number of AAA titles and we launched the highly anticipated game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

We have grown quite a bit over the last few years, but we still embrace the same values that we started with. We want to build the best first person co-op games together, in an approachable, fun and passion-driven way.

The role

We want to engage and reward players who continue to play for a long time. As a Loot Designer, your responsibility is to understand how a game works for its players and project how the players behave. In this role, you will control our game’s reward systems, providing a more entertaining experience for our players. This will be done by listening to player feedback and analysing our data — working closely with the respective feature teams to come up with solutions.

What you'll do

  • Drive changes needed to accomplish the best looting experience through collaborating with other craft teams
  • Develop and iterate on the systems for currency, resources, items, and other economic elements
  • Create interesting items that will appeal to different player types
  • Implement new items in engine
  • Maintain a healthy balance of different intended playstyles and allow players to get creative with their loadout

Required qualifications

  • Proven experience in game economy design, preferably in a multiplayer setting
  • Experience with prototyping and balancing in-game economic systems
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Passion for creating engaging, rewarding, and sustainable in-game economies

Bonus qualifications

  • Previous experience with itemization

We have a policy of working 4 days in the office per week, with 1 day optional to work from home. The onboarding is being done fully in the office.
