Job Description

Middle Environment Artist needed for a game studio creating a zombie apocalypse setting. Responsibilities include collaborating with other artists and designers to create high-quality game environments, assembling scenes based on layouts, creating stylized models of props and nature objects, texturing, lighting, and optimizing content for Unity3D. A minimum of two years of experience in the gaming industry is required, along with proficiency in 3D software (3ds Max, Maya, Blender), texturing software (Substance Painter/3D Coat, Photoshop), and a strong understanding of 3D principles, composition, color, and lighting. Experience with UV mapping, stylized modeling, and working with version control systems is beneficial.
Must have:
  • 2+ years experience as Environment Artist
  • Proficient in 3ds Max, Maya, or Blender
  • Skilled in texturing (Substance Painter/3D Coat)
  • Unity3D experience
  • Understanding of 3D optimization
  • Composition, color, and lighting skills
  • UV mapping competency
Good to have:
  • Art education
  • ZBrush sculpting
  • SpeedTree vegetation generation
  • Git experience

You are our person if you have:

  • at least two years of work experience as an environment artist in the gaming industry
  • confident knowledge of 3D software (3ds max, Maya, Blender)
  • texturing skills (Substance Painter/3D Coat, Photoshop), including hand-paint
  • experience working in the Unity3D editor
  • understanding of the principles of 3D content optimization for game engines
  • knowledge of composition, coloristics, and lighting
  • ability to feel proportions, read the concept
  • experience in working with moderate stylization
  • competency in working with UV maps
  • understanding of the principles of artistic lighting placement
  • portfolio required

Will come in handy:

  • art education
  • sculpting in ZBrush
  • vegetation generation in SpeedTree
  • experience working with version control systems (Git)

Some points on tasks:

  • closely collaborating with 3D artists, concept artists, technical artists, and narrative game designers to create high-quality locations and environmental objects
  • assembling thematic scenes in the zombie apocalypse setting based on the game designers' layout (creating terrain, filling the scenes with content, adjusting the materials, creating ambiance and storytelling)
  • creating stylized models of props and nature objects in line with the concepts and technical constraints
  • creating texture maps for several UV channels, working with Vertex color
  • placing and adjusting lighting
