Job Summary:

Safety and Security officers are responsible for facility safety and security, to include monitoring state of the art security consoles, pedestrian and vehicular traffic, security tours, exterior/interior video surveillance, fire systems and communications control. As members of a formal Safety and Security team, security officers protect Pixar assets and employees from the threat of harm from fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry or property damage. Maintain watch of facilities and equipment malfunction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accommodate employee needs to facilitate smooth studio operations 

  • Patrol building and grounds via foot, scooter and/or bicycle on a consistent basis

  • Greet and provide general information to visitors and employees

  • Conduct surveillance of buildings and grounds through video surveillance and other electronic systems 

  • Respond to emergencies in an orderly manner utilizing proper training and following all SOPs

  • Report and document all incidents and complete daily security reports 

  • Facilitate and ensure safety of visitors and employees in the event of an emergency evacuation 


  • Monitor and maintain physical key systems, electronic key systems, fire systems, and alarm systems

  • Provide emergency first aid when necessary 


  • Participate in ongoing training

SKILLS:

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, including the ability to communicate effectively and treat others with respect and empathy

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Knowledge of, or ability/willingness to learn operation of, protection systems: fire alarm and fire extinguishing equipment, security alarm system and surveillance cameras, and card key door control systems

  • Willingness to problem solve and responsibly mitigate breaches or attempted breaches of security

  • Willingness and availability to work a flexible schedule, including graveyard, swing, and day shifts, overtime shifts, nights and weekends

  • Computer literacy with ability to work on Mac and PC platforms

  • Spanish / English bilingual skills desired but not required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least one year experience in building security

  • Valid CA driver’s license with a safe driving record

  • California BSIS Guard Card and standard First Aid / CPR certification (certificates may be obtained within 3 months of date of hire)

  • Pass comprehensive background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds

The hiring range for this position in Emeryville is $44,030.00 to $56,980.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
