Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Within Azure Data, the messaging and real-time analytics team provides comprehensive solutions and a robust platform that enables users to ingest high granularity signals (real-time & observability) and complex data, converting those into a competitive advantage in real-time for both end users and modern applications.
As a Principal Product Designer on the Real-Time Intelligence team, you’ll shape high-impact, high-quality data tools that educate, empower, and delight data professionals and consumers. You’ll accelerate the product vision through design leadership, collaboration, and an iterative release process. Your work will influence Microsoft Fabric, shaping experiences for Fabric Copilot, Real-Time Dashboard, Eventhouse, Eventstream, and Graph.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design
OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design
o OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience using Figma to contribute to design systems and prototyping.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 10+ years experience working in product design in scale.
- Proficient use of one or more of the following tools to tackle daily tasks: AI tools, development, and analytics tools like Visual Studio, Excel, and Power BI or other data visualization and analytical tools.
- A portfolio or work samples that demonstrate at least 4 years of experience designing world class products from vision through launch, for technical roles.
- Ability to break large bodies of work into a phased execution plan, and lead a cross-functional team from idea to polished implementation.
- Demonstrate high craft in design work; must value craft and translate vision into well-polished design prototypes.
- Experience prompting LLMs or working with generative AI.
Product Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
