This role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting SDDC initiatives at Syniverse, aligning with their Digital Transformation Initiative. Responsibilities include determining technical requirements, improving automation platforms, managing trouble tickets, participating in troubleshooting and RCA meetings, building KPI dashboards, providing technical support for releases and upgrades, ensuring stable performance, and creating detailed technical documentation. The role requires strong technical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong experience with scripting languages.
  • Understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols.
  • Experience with automation of infrastructure.
  • Strong Scripting and Orchestration skills.
  • Working knowledge of RDBMS platforms.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure components.
  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management concepts.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools.
  • Experience customizing/extending software for integration.

Who We're Looking For

General Summary

This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and operational support of SDDC initiatives at Syniverse. This role helps drive how products/systems can be deployed at Syniverse, in alignment with our Digital Transformation Initiative.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Determines technical requirements based on interactions with stakeholders and knowledge of the infrastructure architecture
• Continual process and code improvement to continually make the automation platform better and support ever changing requirements
• Generate, escalate, manage trouble-tickets with vendors support organization
• Participate in troubleshooting bridges with infrastructure and application development teams
• Participate in RCA meetings and generate RCA documents
• Build KPI dashboards
• Provide direct technical support for the planning, design, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to server, storage, and virtualization systems and the range of products and productivity tools that support the testing and production of those systems
• Ensure stable performance for the server, storage, and virtualization environments through performance monitoring and tuning
• Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation
• Author high quality change control documents and follow Syniverse change control policies and procedures
• Potential off-hours escalations/on-call that may require being available on nights and/or weekends
• End-to-end troubleshooting


Job Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems or a relevant discipline
• 8+ years of related experience in IT
• Application software development experience for one or more of the following: Linux/Unix and systems programming or OS internal level skills would be an advantage
• Strong practical Linux/Unix Systems Administration skills
• Strong experience with scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, power Shell etc
• Networking: Understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols including switching technologies, routing fundamentals, IP subnetting and Address Management, firewalling, load balancers, Security trust zones, Management Networks, VPN and network design
• Experience with automation of infrastructure
• Strong Scripting and Orchestration skills
• Strong understanding of automated workflows and blueprints
• Working knowledge of RDBMS platforms such as Oracle, PostgreSQL and SQL Server (able to perform SQL queries and basic DML following documentation)
• Possess architectural and technical understanding of the relationships between virtual and physical servers, data networks and storage
• Knowledge of broader network infrastructure components (e.g. DNS/IPAM/TCP/IP)
• Knowledge of Identity and Access Management concepts (AD/LDAP/OIM/MFA)
• Knowledge of DevOps tools (Ansible Tower/AWX, Puppet, Jenkins)
• Experience customizing/extending software for integration purposes
