The Production Artisan fabricates and maintains dimensional entertainment assets for Disney, adhering to company standards and the Shop Lead's direction. This role requires diverse skills encompassing carpentry, scenic painting, sculpting, textiles, puppetry, sign fabrication, and scenic construction. Responsibilities include assisting senior artisans, maintaining a safe work environment (including proper chemical handling and documentation), and following working drawings to meet design visions. The artisan will utilize knowledge of materials, tools, and techniques to repair and create new assets. This is a part-time, temporary position with fluctuating weekly hours based on business needs.

The Production Artisan is responsible for fabricating and maintaining dimensional entertainment assets to meet Disney standards, following the Shop Lead’s direction, and assisting senior artisans. The role involves utilizing skills in various disciplines such as Carpentry, Scenic Painting, Sculpting, Textiles, Puppetry, Sign Fabrication, and Scenic Construction. Additionally, the Production Artisan must maintain a safe work environment, including proper chemical handling and documentation, and keep records of chemical use and hazardous waste disposal.

You will report to the Area Manager, Scenic Fabrication.

This is a part-time, temporary role, with no guarantee of weekly hours, as it will fluctuate with the business needs.

What You Will Do:

  • Possess knowledge of the primary fabrication tools, materials, and techniques used in the maintenance and creation of entertainment assets.
  • Assist senior artisans in the fabrication of new assets.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, including respirator use, cleanliness of the area, proper chemical handling, and documentation.
  • Maintain records of chemical use and proper hazardous waste disposal.
  • Follow the Shop Lead’s direction to fabricate dimensional entertainment assets using working drawings to meet the Designer's vision. The level of skill and/or years of experience allows them to repair and maintain existing assets and assist in creating new assets that meet Disney standards.
  • Have knowledge of materials, tools, and techniques used in the creation of live entertainment assets for one or more of the following disciplines: Carpentry, Scenic Painting, Sculpting, Textiles, Puppetry, Sign Fabrication, and Scenic Construction.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience representing a broad background of all crafts and disciplines of stagecraft including carpentry, scenic painting, sculpting, sewing, properties construction, sign printing, and estimating.
  • Adaptability as you may be required to change work priorities on short notice to ensure on-time production deadlines
  • Willingness to follow instructions
  • Cooperation with fellow Cast Members, within and outside the main line of business, including facility partners and outside vendors.
  • Ability to interface with other departments, such as Technical Services, Broadcasting, Marketing, Sales
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with computer use and the ability to learn the Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Attention to details with multiple projects
  • Available to work Sunday through Saturday, all shifts (i.e., 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) as deemed required by management.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

The pay rate for this role in California is $37.00 to $45.00 per hour. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
