As a Project Manager III at Syniverse, you will be responsible for managing complex projects, from new product development to infrastructure, with budgets potentially reaching millions of dollars. Your responsibilities will include developing project charters and plans, managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensuring the successful execution of projects. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage risks, and serve as the primary point of contact for project teams. You will also be involved in resource allocation and managing relationships with external customers and vendors, ensuring project deliverables are met on time and within budget. The role requires strong communication and leadership skills, as well as a deep understanding of project management methodologies and the telecommunications industry. This position also involves risk assessment and risk management with formal change control to the project scope through effective change control management.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of project management experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of telecommunications technologies.
  • Skills in networking, architecture, database, and system support.
  • Proficient in project planning using MS Office Suite.

Who We're Looking For

Project Managers are individual contributors with advanced level job scope who works on complex issues. The job is responsible for managing projects (Global and Domestic) ranging in type from new product development to infrastructure and can range into the millions of dollars in revenue or cost. Projects are diverse in scope and no project is the same; therefore, project managers must possess a broad array of skills to effectively manage a given project. Projects typically involve working with cross-functional teams, executive members and internal & external customers. All are focused on the delivery of the project’s end product or products from requirements to a finished state.

Some of What You'll Do

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Responsible for the successful execution and control of the complex projects (both business and technical related phases) requiring in-depth evaluation from initiation through delivery, organizing cross-functional activities to ensure completion of the program and project deliverables on time and within budget.  

•    Develops project charter & plans; facilitates business process workshops.  

•    Manages and validates the development and tracking of tactical project plans including scope, schedule, cost, risks, estimates, deliverables and dependencies.  

•    Responsible for capturing all project issues and ensuring their resolution and/or escalation in a time-appropriate manner.  

•    Ensure conformance to Software Development Lifecycle for new product and enhancement development efforts.
•    Responsible for performing risk assessments and managing risks as well as formal change control to the project scope through effective change control management.  

•    Responsible for determining resource requirements, identifying and acquiring qualified team members to meet project deliverables.  

•    Leads cross-functional project team activities, providing leadership, guidance and coaching to the team, as well as leading steering committee meetings as needed to address issues.

•    Primary point of contact for the project team.
•    Provides guidance to project administrators as required.  
•    Depending on the nature of the project(s), manage milestones, schedules and dependencies with external customers and/or vendors.


Job Requirements:

•    BS/BA in business management, computer science, information systems or equivalent work experience.
•    Requires a minimum of 8 years experience in project management.

•    Strong oral and written communication skills are required to effectively interface and communicate with all levels of management.
•    Strong leadership, interpersonal, team building, facilitation, conflict management, influence management, and negotiation skills are required to effectively lead the program and project towards attaining its goals.
•    Strong working knowledge of software development process/methodologies and telecommunications, wireless and wireline industries technologies is required.
•    Skills or knowledge in areas such as networking, architecture, database, system and application support, development, disaster recovery, and first level support required.
•    Exposure to finance, accounting, procurement and legal principles required.
•    Proficient in creating project plans and proficient in using MS Word, MS Project, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook.
•    Strong working knowledge of standard project management discipline philosophy and the ability to apply this philosophy within Syniverse organizational framework is required at a program and project level.
•    PMP certification is strongly desired.
