The Dev Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, developing and testing software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. Having a wide-ranging experience, you will use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways and will frequently contribute to the development of new ideas, methods and/or theories.
Essential Functions
• Developing and designing new features and sustaining existing features in Cloud and On Prem services and applications
• Debugging product-level issues and security vulnerabilities, and identifying relevant faulty components, even outside of areas of deep specialization
• Design, create component and unit tests for production level code
• Assist with the assessment and scheduling process of new product requirements and by breaking down Epics and providing estimates for stories and tasks.
• Interface and work well with other engineering groups from various US and international regions as part of day to day activities.
• Code, review and maintain software for Cloud Services and Application of significant size and complexity working from written requirements and architectural specifications.
• Extend and improve test automation across functional and performance boundaries.
• Actively looking out for ways to optimize software delivery processes: code reviews, CI pipeline etc
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in CS or related field and 3+ years of related experience; or equivalent work experience.
• Expertise in a programming languages (Python/Perl preferred ), as well as some of the supporting technologies
• Familiar with Web APIs and protocols like TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, DNS, HTTP, and others such as debuggers, disassemblers and various OS
• Experience of building scalable and distributed applications using Cloud Native tools and technologies
• Experience developing code for multi-threaded applications on Linux and competent in the concepts of threads, processes, concurrency and locking.
• Experience working in a dynamic Agile project environment using Scrum methodologies
• Experience with version control technologies such as Git and Perforce
• Good verbal & written skills for communicating abstract & complex ideas
• Knowledge and development experience in AWS, Azure or other Public Cloud providers
• Knowledge of virtualisation and containerisation concepts, tools and software
• Experience automating Public Cloud deployments using both IaaS and PaaS capabilities
• Knowledge of scripting languages and Linux platform tools like bash, perl, awk, sed and grep.
• Experience and knowledge of large enterprise networking environments.
• Data storage experience across technologies such as RDBMS, Key/Value Stores and NoSQL
• Understanding of security concepts: encryption, secure application development, defensive programming, software vulnerabilities and exploits, general issues in web security.
• The capability of designing and driving implementation of features that span the entire product and require collaboration of multiple architectural teams .
