Job Description

As a Senior PCB Engineer at NVIDIA, you will provide PCB technology support to engineering teams, build relationships with PCB suppliers, optimize PCB stack-ups for reliability and cost-effectiveness, and resolve supplier issues. You will lead the development of PCB technology and material roadmaps, qualify new technologies and materials with suppliers, and conduct R&D of new PCB technologies. Responsibilities also include maintaining design rules and frequently communicating with the Santa Clara PCB team. Domestic and international travel is required. This role demands expertise in various PCB technologies, high-speed signal design, and strong communication skills.
Must have:
  • 8+ years PCB design, fabrication, and materials experience
  • Expertise in all PCB technologies and R&D of laminate materials
  • HDI, high layer count PCBs, materials, and signal integrity expertise
  • Effective communication with hardware and signal integrity teams
  • BS/MS in Chemistry or Materials Engineering (or equivalent)
Good to have:
  • OEM system level PCB and backplane experience
  • Experience with 25 Gbps+ signal designs

What you’ll be doing:  

  • Provide PCB Technology support to Engineering Teams; and also to Signal Integrity, PCB Design, PCB Sourcing, and OPS Engineering Teams.  

  • Develop close relationships with the PCB Supply Base and Material Laminate Suppliers applicable to PCB designs.  

  • Help establish and create optimize PCB stack-ups to maximize reliability and with cost avoidance concepts.  

  • Resolve PCB Supplier issues, corrective actions, and prevent issues from reoccurring.  

  • Lead the development of PCB Technology and Material Roadmaps established from Engineering needs and for next generation products.  

  • Lead the efforts with PCB Supply Base such that they are capable and ready to meet the PCB Roadmap requirements; and qualify suppliers with new technologies and materials.  

  • Lead the Research & Development of new PCB Technologies, Interconnect Structures, and Materials required for new Products, Product performance improvements, and cost reductions prior to the time needed by Engineering.  

  • Maintain and update Design Rules and PCB Fabrication requirements to reflect new developed technologies, materials, and processes.  

  • Frequently communicate and update PCB and Supplier activities with the PCB Team in Santa Clara.  

  • Domestic and international travel required. 

     

What we need to see:  

  • BS/MS Chemistry or Materials Engineering (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years’ experience related to PCB Design, fabrication, and materials. OEM System level PCB and Backplane experience desirable.  

  • Extensive expertise in all PCB Technologies with a strong background in the Research and Development of laminate materials, PCB interconnect structures, related Chemistries, and fabrication processes.  

  • Proven expertise in HDI, high layer count PCBs, materials, and signal Integrity challenges with high speed (25 Gbps+) signal designs.  

  • The ability to effectively work and communicate with various Hardware and Signal Integrity Engineering Teams; and ability to establish very close and respected relationships with these Teams.  

  • A self-driver with minimal supervision.  

  • Good leadership and oral/written communications skills.  

  • High motivation and creative thinking skills.  

  • This role is located in Santa Clara full time and capable of daily attendance in NVIDIA office.

The base salary range is 136,000 USD - 276,000 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
