Job Description

Google's Core team seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to build the technical foundation behind flagship products. Responsibilities include writing and testing code, participating in design reviews, reviewing peer code, contributing to documentation, and triaging/resolving product issues. This role requires 5+ years of software development experience (including 3+ years in full-stack development using Java, Python, GO, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, etc.), 3+ years in testing/launching software, and 1+ year in software design and architecture. The ideal candidate will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of software solutions. The Core team focuses on building central solutions and strengthening existing systems across Google's products.
Must have:
  • 5+ years software development experience
  • 3+ years full-stack development
  • 3+ years testing/launching software
  • 1+ year software design & architecture
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, GO, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Experience with accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, etc.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
