Job Description

The Senior VP of Academic Partnerships will be responsible for developing a commercial publishing strategy in the United States and defined new growth markets. They will drive regional content acquisition, build partnerships with funders, senior academics, and Key Opinion Leaders, and help position Taylor & Francis as a market leader. The role involves managing a high-level senior team, monitoring key performance indicators, developing budgets, representing the company at events, and providing market feedback. The position requires a strong commercial focus, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead and inspire a team. The role will be responsible for the Philadelphia office hub.

Job Description

Responsible for developing a commercial publishing strategy in the US and defined new growth markets, the SVP Academic Partnerships will drive regional content acquisition and build partnerships with funders, senior academics and Key Opinion Leaders regionally, to help position T&F as a market leader in terms of value and impact of research content, and to deliver content and revenue growth.

What you will be doing:

  • Drive Researcher Services content growth, KOL acquisition and influence in the US; responsibility for performance and objective attainment in line with strategic objectives
  • Establish, maintain and develop high level relationships with key US customer groups; researchers and research key opinion leaders, funders, societies and institutions, commercial, professional and academic as well as government and regulatory bodies
  • Lead the business development teams operating across defined high growth markets globally
  • Provide market feedback to the company leadership regarding competitive offerings and regional market trends, and generate product and services development ideas
  • Monitor and report on KPIs including revenue, costs, overheads, usage and user behaviours to inform future strategic development
  • Develop and report on budgets and forecasts for the current year and against three-year plans
  • Continually developing the T&F brand and profile, building increasing awareness through representing the company at events globally as required
  • Lead, inspire and coach a high level senior team to ensure high engagement, delivery of objectives, and a culture of high performance, in the US and in global growth markets as required
  • Senior leadership for the Philadelphia office hub

Qualifications

What we are looking for: 

  • The ability to lead and inspire a team 
  • Strong commercial focus and experience in managing the P&L within a strategic business unit 
  • A firm grasp of strategic issues affecting the global research sector 
  • A proven track record in developing, managing and implementing content delivery for a global publishing business 
  • Significant experience of managing change  
  • Experience of managing significant budgets 
  • Extensive capability in assessing market conditions, looking externally and adapting business priorities dependant on macro and micro factors 
  • The ability to communicate and form strong working relationships and networks effectively at all levels, both internally and externally 
  • Outstanding team leadership skills 
  • Results-oriented with the ability to manage from strategic development to detailed execution 
  • A proven track record of delivering high performance both personally and commercially  
  • Effective management of cost and revenue growth  
  • Excellent commercial understanding and awareness 
  • Extremely competent presenter (formally and informally) 

Additional Information
