The CFAR team seeks a Front-End Software Engineer passionate about UX design to protect customers and the company from fraud. The role involves bridging the gap between design and engineering, understanding stakeholder needs, and leveraging CFAR data and platforms. Responsibilities include creating wireframes and mockups, writing and testing code, identifying common functionality, applying software engineering principles, crafting UX narratives, contributing to the CFAR UX vision, reviewing user satisfaction, and developing prototypes based on business processes and data. The engineer will work with senior leaders and individual contributors to translate ideas into interactive designs, reporting on UX satisfaction and new initiatives. They will also contribute to the operational health of applications and leverage AI advancements for enhanced business understanding.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field & 2+ years experience
  • 2+ years experience with Angular or React
  • 2+ years experience with .NET application development
  • Experience with state management tools
  • Experience with design tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.)
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in related field & 1+ year experience
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Experience securing online services
  • Experience with mockup tools
  • Expertise with VS Code
  • Experience using generative AI tools

The Central Fraud and Abuse Risk (CFAR) team is seeking a Front-End Software Engineer with a passion for UX design who will help us protect our customers and our company by eradicating fraud and service abuse across the Microsoft ecosystem. Our goal is to minimize financial and reputational harm by preventing, detecting, and addressing fraud. 

As a CFAR Front-End Software Engineer, you will act as a liaison and bridge the gap between design and engineering. Your role involves understanding the business needs of internal stakeholders and integrating that knowledge with a deep understanding of our CFAR data and platform. You will deliver insights, prototypes and solutions using data and effective visualization techniques to enhance business understanding while leveraging AI advancements. 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 2+ years related work experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code OR equivalent experience. 

 

 

Preferred qualifications 

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 1+ year(s) relevant work experience in product or service design and/or shipping production code.
  • 2+ years experience with Angular or React. 
  • 2+ years experience with writing, testing, and debugging .NET applications. 
  • Experience with state management tools like Redux and Mobx. 
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud with a focus around deploying UX applications via app services, CDNs, load balancers, and more. 
  • Experience securing online services in Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud. 
  • Experience with design tools like Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, or other relevant tools.  
  • Experience with mockup tools like Balsamiq, InVision, Flinto, Framer, Unity, etc. 
  • Expertise with VS Code. 
  • Experience using generative AI tools, configuring AI agents, and presenting findings. 

 

Other requirements: 

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings 
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

 

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities  

  • Use design tools to create wireframes and mockups, prototype enhancements, and create and socialize intuitive interfaces that lead to visually appealing, functional products. 
  • Write, test, deploy, and debug extensible and maintainable code and infrastructure. 
  • Identify common functionality across experiences and new requests, then propose UX that minimizes duplication, centralizes tooling, and builds organization awareness and reputation. 
  • Apply software engineering principles to develop new products, build prototypes, and ensure they meet Microsoft Fluent UI and Microsoft Security Coherence design and quality standards. 
  • Craft compelling UX narratives to persuade and motivate stakeholders and senior leadership. 
  • Contribute to the long term CFAR UX vision, ensuring new experiences accrue to that vision. 
  • Capture and review user satisfaction and usability, suggesting improvements as needed. 
  • Review and adjust UX requests and mocks to raise quality, consistency, and usefulness. 
  • Contribute to the operational health of our applications. 
  • Develop prototypes built on a deep business process understanding and underlying data 
  • Work with senior leaders and individual contributors, collecting ideas and inputs, then translating them into interactive designs for our future user experiences. 
  • Report to the organization on UX satisfaction, new initiatives, and the latest design guidance.
