This Software Engineer III role at Google focuses on full-stack development for the Search Content Platform (SCP), a fundamental part of Google Search. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, building frontend and backend applications for content lifecycle management (ingestion pipelines, large datasets, debugging, visualizations), collaborating with frontend developers on user experience, and partnering with Search vertical teams to support and co-develop Search product experiences. The ideal candidate will have experience with frontend languages (Typescript/Javascript), backend languages (Java, Go, C++), full-stack development, and strong communication skills. Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years frontend experience (Typescript/Javascript)
  • 2+ years backend experience (Java, Go, C++)
  • 1+ year full-stack development experience
  • Fluent English communication
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS
  • Experience with large-scale systems
  • Experience developing accessible technologies
  • Proficiency in code/system health, diagnosis, and testing

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with a frontend language such as Typescript or Javascript and a backend language such as Java, go, or C++.
  • 1 year of experience with fullstack software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, JavaScript, Typescript).
  • Experience with fullstack software development in one or more programming languages.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to interact with local stakeholders in this customer-facing role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools or debugging.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Build frontend web and backend applications to enable the developers to manage the whole life-cycle of content (creating content ingestion pipelines, working with large datasets, debugging tricky data structures, visualizations of the content, etc).
  • Work with a team of frontend developers with a sense of helping our users via intuitive UX.
  • Partner closely with Search vertical experiences teams (think movies, sports, events etc) to support and co-develop current and future Search product experiences.
