Job Description

As a Software Engineer, Infrastructure at Google, you'll build and scale the metastore for analytical workloads in a growing data analytics space. Responsibilities include writing product/system development code, participating in design reviews, code reviews, contributing to documentation, triaging and resolving system issues, and analyzing impacts on hardware, network, or service operations. You'll work on projects critical to Google's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects. The role requires experience in software development, data structures/algorithms, infrastructure/distributed systems, and programming languages like C, C++, Java, Python, or Go.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years software development or 1 year with advanced degree
2+ years experience with data structures or algorithms
2+ years experience developing infrastructure, storage, distributed systems, or compute technologies
Proficiency in C, C++, Java, Python, or Go

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in Computer Science
Experience with performance analysis, visualization tools, debugging
Experience in code/system health diagnosis and resolution
Software test engineering experience
Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
2 years of experience with developing infrastructure, storage, distributed systems, or experience with compute technologies, or hardware architecture.
Experience in one or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
2 years of experience with performance, systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
Experience in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
Experience developing accessible technologies.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide on available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
