Job Description

The Sr Packer is responsible for shipping, material movement, and receiving duties, as well as confirming inventory levels. The role involves reading packing orders, inspecting items, preparing them for packaging, and ensuring they are not damaged. The Sr Packer wraps, packs, and secures items in containers, seals and labels packages, and operates machinery. This role affects internal and external customers, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality goals of the division. The role also includes performing inventory checks and reporting discrepancies and preparing containers for shipping. The normal working hours for this role are Monday to Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm.
Must have:
  • Read and interpret packing orders or lists
  • Inspect and prepare items for packaging
  • Wrap, pack, and secure items in containers
  • Seal and label packages appropriately
  • Operate machinery or tools for packaging
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment
  • Perform inventory checks and report discrepancies
  • Assemble, prepare, and load containers for shipping
  • High School Diploma/GED with 2+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of materials management and inventory accuracy
  • Computer knowledge
  • Good close vision and hand dexterity
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
Good to have:
  • Truck driving experience preferred
  • Ability to use material handling equipment
  • Knowledge of Kaizen and 5S principles
  • Ability to work on ladders
  • Ability to work on feet for long periods

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

The normal working hours for this role are anticipated to be Monday - Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm. The Sr Packer performs all shipping, material movement and receiving duties and confirms inventory levels. This job directly affects both internal and external customers.  It also affects Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality goals of the division.  Routine internal contacts may include, but not limited to Sales Administration, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Material handling and Planning.

  • Reading and interpreting packing orders or lists to determine the items to be packed
  • Inspecting and preparing items for packaging, ensuring they are not damaged or defective
  • Wrapping, packing, and securing items in containers or boxes using a variety of cushioning materials
  • Sealing and labeling packages appropriately according to packing instructions or shipping regulations
  • Operating machinery or using tools as required for packaging, such as tape dispensers, Maintaining an organized and clean work environment to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Performing inventory checks and reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor
  • Assembling, preparing, and loading containers or pallets for shipping
  • Reading and interpreting packing orders or lists to determine the items to be packed
  • Inspecting and preparing items for packaging, ensuring they are not damaged or defective
  • Wrapping, packing, and securing items in containers or boxes using a variety of cushioning materials
  • Sealing and labeling packages appropriately according to packing instructions or shipping regulations

  • Maintaining an organized and clean work environment to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Performing inventory checks and reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor
  • Assembling, preparing, and loading containers or pallets for shipping.

Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 2+ years of experience in a shipping and/or receiving environment and/or data entry experience. Knowledge of materials management and inventory accuracy principles.
    • Truck driving experience preferred.
    • Ability to use material handling equipment such as a floor jack, hand truck, order picker, and forklift.
    • Shipping and/or receiving experience.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen and 5S principles.
  • Computer knowledge.
  • Good close vision and hand dexterity for computer.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with manager and others.
  • Ability to work on ladders.
  • Ability to work on feet for long periods of time.
  • Requires mental alertness and attention to detail.
