Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer at Google, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership on high-impact projects, influencing and coaching a distributed team of engineers, facilitating alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines, managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. You will be working on Vertex AI, a machine learning platform that enables developers to build, deploy, and manage machine learning models at scale. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the platform's core infrastructure, including its data pipeline, model training infrastructure, and deployment tools. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining the platform's user interface, API, and documentation.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in software development
  • Experience with data structures/algorithms
  • 5 years of experience testing and launching software products
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture
  • Experience with the design and implementation of distributed systems
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects

Minimum qualifications:
