Cloud Imperium Games is looking for a skilled and talented Technical Director to work on our exciting PC space combat sim, Star Citizen and Squadron 42! The Technical Director will work in a cooperative, cross-disciplinary team environment to implement game features and systems within our own StarEngine. Our engine, StarEngine, is a multi-million line multi-platform project. Every programmer is recompiling the code base multiple times a day. 

Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge videogames that defy expectations. We’re currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. What do our Technical Directors do? 

  • Learn, and ultimately have a good understanding of the technology used in StarEngine to develop our projects. 

  • Work with the Creative Directors to help drive the projects’ visions through. 

  • Support all disciplines with technical solutions to implement game content and features. 

  • Proactively analyse the projects and identify areas for improvement. 

  • Help manage projects all the way through to release. 

 

What does a good Technical Director look like to us? 

A true passion for making games is a must, and we would also like it if you: 

  • Have a proven track record of getting multiple, large, AAA titles all the way to completion on multiple platforms. 

  • A technical programming background. 

  • Work well in a co-located yet collaborative team environment. 

  • Be friendly and approachable for all team members, all roles and levels. 

  • Can explain and present technical solutions to all disciplines.

About The Company

Cloud Imperium Games is a new kind of independent studio dedicated to delivering AAA experiences outside the established publisher system, founded by Chris Roberts, creator of the best selling Wing Commander and Freelancer series, Cloud Imperium is currently developing Star Citizen, a record-shattering crowd funded title that combines classic space sim gameplay with Hollywood-caliber visuals.


Cloud Imperium aims to pave new ground in game development by sharing the process with the players.
