As a Technical Art Director, you are a technical expert in the art field. You have a deep understanding of the production pipeline and are able to make technical decisions for all artistic disciplines, driving the visual quality of the game while respecting the technical constraints. You will work closely with the development teams for the production of our ambitious video game. You are responsible for the readiness of asset production pipelines as well as the technical quality of all in-game assets and adherence to performance and memory budgets.

- Définir les budgets de performance et de mémoire pour les actifs artistiques, en veillant à ce qu’ils soient compris et respectés à tous les niveaux;

- Diriger la conception et le développement de divers outils et scripts d’automatisation nécessaires à l’équipe artistique;
- Maintenir une communication claire et efficace avec toutes les parties prenantes, en veillant à ce que la vision artistique soit comprise et respectée à tous les niveaux;
- Superviser le processus de création artistique, en s’assurant que les délais et les budgets soient respectés tout en maintenant des normes de qualité élevées;
- Identifier et résoudre les problèmes artistiques et créatifs tout au long du développement, en proposant des solutions innovantes et pragmatiques;
- Être à l'affût des tendances artistiques et technologiques de l'industrie du jeu vidéo et assurer que l'équipe reste à la pointe de l'innovation artistique.

- Define performance and memory budgets for art assets, ensuring they are understood and respected at all levels;
- Consistently lead the profiling and optimization of art assets throughout the game’s development;
- Lead the design and development of various tools and automation scripts needed by the art team;
- Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, ensuring that the technical art direction is understood and respected at all levels;
- Oversee the art and design pipeline creation process, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met while maintaining high quality standards;
- Identify and resolve technical artistic issues that impact creation through development, proposing innovative and pragmatic solutions that enable teammates to do their best work;
- Stay on top of artistic and technological trends in the video game industry to ensure the team stays at the forefront of innovation

Basic Qualifications

Qualifications de base :

- Expérience avérée dans un rôle de direction technique artistique dans l'industrie du jeu vidéo;
- Maîtrise des logiciels standards et des outils de création artistique tels que Maya, ainsi qu'une compréhension approfondie des principes de conception et des techniques artistiques;
- Maîtrise des outils graphiques tel que RenderDoc ou équivalent;
- Capacité avérée à inspirer une équipe techniquement créative, en favorisant un environnement de travail collaboratif et stimulant;
- Excellentes compétences en communication et en gestion de projet, avec la capacité de présenter et de défendre des concepts artistiques de manière convaincante;
- Diplôme en art, en design, en animation, en programmation, ou dans un domaine connexe, ou expérience équivalente sur le terrain;
- Maîtrise du français et de l’anglais, à l'oral et à l'écrit; puisque ce rôle nécessite d'interagir avec d’autres entités d’Amazon à l’échelle mondiale ainsi qu’avec des employé·es et intervenant·e·s dans d’autres provinces canadiennes, la connaissance du français et de l’anglais est exigée pour ce poste.

Basic Qualifications

- Proven experience in a technical art direction role in the video game industry;
- Proficiency with standard software and art authoring tools such as Maya, as well as a thorough understanding of design principles and artistic techniques;
- Proficiency with graphics profiling tools such as RenderDoc or equivalent;
- Proven ability to inspire a creative technical team, fostering a collaborative and stimulating work environment;
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to present and defend technical artistic concepts convincingly;
- Degree in art, design, animation, programming, or a related field, or equivalent field experience;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, in French and English; due to the nature of the role which requires interaction with other Amazon entities globally and with Amazon employees and stakeholders in other provinces in Canada, bilingual French and English is required for this position.
