  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Good to have:
  • Workday Integration, Security, and/or Reporting Certifications.
  • Experience with middleware platforms.
  • Familiarity with secure data exchange protocols.

Job Description:

Alation is seeking a skilled Workday Integration Specialist to design, develop, test, and support integration solutions between Workday and internal/external systems. This role requires a cross-functional understanding of the Workday platform—with the ability to collaborate across modules such as HCM, Payroll, Benefits, and Finance—and will include a specialized focus on Workday security frameworks, to ensure integration integrity and data protection.The successful candidate will also be responsible for custom report writing and analytics, enabling the organization to leverage data insights for better decision-making. Proficiency with Workday Studio, Workday Extend, Core Connectors, EIBs, and web services is essential.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations between Workday and third-party systems using Workday Studio, Workday Extend, Core Connectors, EIBs, and Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST APIs).

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve integration errors and security-related issues.

  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and scalable integration solutions.

  • Work independently as well as working with the other members of the HR Systems Team to collaborate on projects and tickets.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, IT, Payroll, Benefits, and Finance stakeholders to assess and deliver integration and reporting requirements.

  • Develop and manage custom reports using Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields, and Workday Prism (if applicable).

  • Create, modify, and maintain custom dashboards

  • Maintain and configure Workday security roles, domain security policies, and ensure secure transmission of data through integrations.

  • Manage user access, user-based, and role-based permissions within Workday to ensure compliance with organizational policies, data governance, and industry regulations.

  • Conduct regular audits to identify and address security vulnerabilities.

  • Conduct regression testing and impact analysis for Workday updates or configuration changes.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for integrations, system configurations, and security frameworks.

  • Stay current with Workday releases and new features and assess their impact on existing integrations and security protocols.

You should have:

  • 5+ years of experience with Workday integrations development, security setup, report writing (Advance, Matrix, and composite), and dashboards.

  • Proficiency in Workday Studio, Workday Extend, Core Connectors, EIBs, Report Writer, and web services (REST/SOAP).

  • Solid understanding of Workday security model, including domain and business process security.

  • Cross-functional knowledge of Workday modules such as HCM, Benefits, Payroll, and/or Financials.

  • Strong XML, XSLT, and JSON skills.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management abilities.

Preferred:

  • Workday Integration, Security, and/or Reporting Certification(s).

  • Experience with middleware platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Workato).

  • Familiarity with OAuth2, SAML, and secure data exchange protocols.

  • Background in enterprise HR or Finance systems, or security in a SaaS environment.
