Job Description

The AI Software Tools Technical Lead will build high-performance, energy-efficient software solutions showcasing cutting-edge AI capabilities. Responsibilities include R&D for next-generation computing systems for ML/AI workloads, creating key IPs and prototypes, and contributing to publications and standardization efforts. Collaboration with hardware/software architects to build profiling and performance measurement tools is crucial, as is partnering with universities and international teams on research initiatives. The role requires deep learning software development expertise with frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow, experience optimizing workloads on heterogeneous hardware, and familiarity with deploying custom LLM pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AI accelerator hardware design and architecture and experience building software tooling applications for hardware/software performance profiling.
Must have:
  • 15+ years exp. (BS) or 13+ years exp. (MS) or 10+ years exp (PhD)
  • Proficient in designing, developing, and deploying custom AI software tools
  • Full-stack performance profiling and bottleneck analysis expertise
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and Agile methodologies
  • Deep Learning software development (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
  • Hardware/Software co-design experience
  • Experience building software tooling for hardware performance profiling with GenAI LLM workloads
Good to have:
  • Open-source contributions on software tools/applications employing LLM workloads
  • AI accelerator hardware design and architecture knowledge
  • Experience deploying custom LLM pipelines and workloads
  • Gitlab pipeline development and docker containerization experience

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is a world leader in Memory, System LSI and LCD technologies. As a member of Samsung’s Memory Solutions Lab (MSL), you will be part of an Advanced Research and Development team developing the next generation of enterprise memory and storage technologies. The team innovates, solves key technical problems in areas and products related to Samsung’s HBM, DRAM and NAND flash memory technologies, and tackles a variety of challenging issues in data center, server, and AI software infrastructure.

Joining a team of experts in researching and developing innovative solutions, the candidate will be leveraging existing and emerging technologies to add substantial value to Samsung. The team covers a broad spectrum of topics and is building an ecosystem surrounding efficient utilization of next-generation AI hardware. You will be working with the-state-of-art technologies in the context of vertical integration and optimization across hardware and software.

What You’ll Do

  • Build performance-intensive and power-efficient software solutions showcasing state-of-the-art AI competencies
  • Conduct key research and development activities to design, develop and evaluate next-generation computing systems for emerging ML/AI workloads
  • Create key IPs, implement prototypes, write or publish papers, and contribute to standardization
  • Partner with other hardware/software architects to build profiling, performance measurement tools for future products, and contribute to feasibility studies.
  • Collaborate with universities and international teams on building strong research initiatives

What You Bring

  • BS in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 15+ years of working experiences in silicon development or MS in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 13+ years of relevant working experience or PhD and 10+ years of relevant working experience preferred.
  • Proficient with designing, developing and deploying custom on-prem AI Software Tools meeting performance KPIs and security, privacy SLAs
  • Hands-on expertise in full stack performance profiling and bottleneck analysis enabling data-driven software resolution
  • Familiarity in building CI-CD pipelines, containerization of AI software stack employing Agile methodologies
  • Prior hardware/software/system co-design experience and ability to collaborate with both the hardware and the software teams effectively
  • Demonstrated Deep Learning software development and expertise with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.,
  • Proven experience with building software tooling applications for hardware, software performance profiling with GenAI LLM workloads
  • Open-source contributions on software tools/applications employing LLM workloads
  • Hands-on experience and skill in optimizing deep learning workloads on heterogeneous hardware backends
  • Good knowledge and expertise in AI accelerator hardware design and architecture
  • Familiarity with deploying custom LLM pipelines and workloads to measure software stack performance
  • Good analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience with pipeline development in Gitlab and docker containerization

Base Pay Range

$180,950 - $289,050 USD
